Finding The Light

He was standing alone behind his door, staring unseeingly out of the dusty window. He was a man who was at home in a dozen capitals of the world, but Victoria falls was one of his favourite towns, Victoria Falls is a town in western Zimbabwe and a gateway to the massive waterfall, he loved the view. His waiting had the patience of a hunter, the quiet stillness of a man in control of his body and his emotions. He is dark and has the stormy good looks of his ancestors. He had dark hair and a strong face, he has quick intelligent eyes that were deep blue. He was over six feet tall, with the lean muscular body of a man who kept himself in good physical condition. The parlour was filled with dirt, and almost everything was scattered on the floor. "Why do they keep doing this, believe me when I say I desperately want to leave this town, seems we are always the dartboard" Mrs Patience said this with a groaning frown as she bent to pick her favourite video tape which was almost destroyed. Beauty just waking up came out quickly to the parlour, the noise in the parlour carried her up"What!!" ``Beauty shouted. Something in her mind seemed to freeze, and it was as if there was a thin veil between her and reality. Her father's voice brought her back to reality " Clean up, this is not the first time it has happened to us," Mr. Eze said while cleaning his radio. The first time our house was robbed, it was our Neighbour Emmanuel who climbed in through the parlour window and stole our TV, and some of my dad's favourite videotapes. This was unexpected as the robbers broke in last night very quietly, without making a sound to send alarm to those sleeping inside. It took about 2 hours to clean up the mess they did, they nevertheless continued their daily activities, Beauty was almost done with secondary school while her younger brother Victor just entered secondary school. The preparation for school was hurried since the clean up consumed most of the time. Mrs. Patience, the wife of Mr. Eze, is a teacher of a small school down the street. Both are the beautiful couple that raised Beauty and Victor. Everyone was set to go except Mr. Eze,he stays at home most of the time, doesn't have a job at the moment but he was searching for one to support his family. The traffic was horrendous, but it was always horrendous at this time of the day, rush hour. God, she hated those words. Especially today. She clapped the palm of her hand on the horn and muttered under her breath "C'mon you jerk, move"

Savage Dreamz

"Hey, short stack." Tao leaned on the wall with his hands I his pockets. "Are you calling me?" With her height, Mimi Ann had never been called 'short'. "Who else is short here?" She looked around and surely she was the shortest person around the basketball team. "Why are you calling me that though?" The young man shrugged, "Because you're vertically challenged?" "I'm one hundred and seventy seven centimetres tall! I am actually considered a tall human being." Tao smirked arrogantly then walked to her and bend his back so that He looked at her face, "Little freezer, this is the basketball court not a studio. Go sing somewhere else." She gritted her teeth and stomped out muttering, "Little Freezer? What's with his nicknames?" Tao liked teasing her and seeing her angry face. He laughed, "Because you're a little duckling, I have to bend down to talk to you... Like I do when I want to take something from the freezer." he chuckled and watching her stomp out even angrier. After her mother's death Mimi Ann, a beautiful seventeen year old girl, meets the father she has never met before and had hated all her life for that reason. She has half siblings and schoolmates who look down on her as an illegitimate child. Worst of all, she has never met these people but has to move from Zimbabwe to China right after her mother's burial. At her new school she finds her solution in a co-ed wannabe unpopular band that is known as the school outcasts. She joins them to compete with her half sister to get on her father's nerves with the hopes of being chased back to the home she grew up in and was comfortable. While she is at it she falls for one of the popular boys at school, Zi Tao, a basketball top star and life just turns hectic. Looking at the three people in the room for the first time Mimi Ann smirked, "So this is where the school outcasts hang?" A beautiful young woman with white hair frowned, "Some may call us that but we are a legit band." "What do you call yourselves?" "BARD." answered one of the two boys. Mimi Ann frowned, "What's that? What does that mean?" "We took the B from BTS or BTOB, they are very popular Korean bands and the ARD is from KARD a popuar Co-ed group just like us." Mimi Ann choked on her own spit, "What? Does your band live off other bands? No wonder you are deemed the school outcasts but I'm here now to change everything, starting with your copycat nature." the girl smiled confidently. Follow Mimi Ann's journey into her new life as she tries to fit into a new family, country and school.

I left village to seek fortune in Harare, Zimbabwe that's where I'm living now trying to make our standards of living better. I'm not sure if my alleged father is my real father, at one point he said i wasn't his son and i should ask my Mother. I don't know how to ask her about it , I've to figure it out. I don't know where i will be tomorrow, am i going to change the way we live or I'm going to fail it's hard to predict as there's no hope today with the current job I'm doing.I have to be stronger and become someone who can stand on his own feet and face life as it is. Let's see what am i going to bring in to my world. NB: This book is based on a true story i feel like sharing it in that way . Oromo people historically

Originally confined to the southeast of the country, the Oromo migrated in waves of invasions in the 16th century CE. They occupied all of southern Ethiopia, with some settling along the Tana River in Kenya; most of the central and western Ethiopian provinces, including the southern parts of the Amhara region; and, farther north, the Welo and Tigre regions near Eritrea. Wherever the Oromo settled in those physically disparate areas, they assimilated local customs and intermarried to such an extent that much of their original cultural cohesiveness was lost. They were eventually subjugated by the Amhara, the next largest ethnolinguistic group in Ethiopia. Related Topics:  Boran Oromo See all related content → The Oromo pursued pastoralism before the great migration, and that way of life still prevails for the great numbers of people in the southern provinces. In the east and north, however, long mingling and intermarrying with the Sidamo and Amhara resulted in the adoption of a sedentary agriculture. READ MORE ON THIS TOPIC eastern Africa: Rise of the Oromo The challenge came from the Oromo, a Cushitic-speaking pastoralist people whose original... The southern groups, such as the Arusi and Boran (Borana) Oromo, have remained pagan, believing in a sky god. They have retained virtually intact the gada, or highly formalized age-set system (a system in which all members of society are included in separate age groups for life). Those traditions have been diluted in the north, where the Oromo are either Muslim or members of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church and where many Oromo have, through acculturation, become social equals to the dominant Amhara. The main groupings are the Zezuru, Karanga, Manyika, Tonga-Korekore, and Ndau. Shona man Shona healer dressed in traditional costume, Zimbabwe. Hans Hillewaert The Shona are farmers of millet, sorghum, and corn (maize), the last being the primary staple, and a variety of other crops such as rice, beans, peanuts (groundnuts), and sweet potatoes. Cattle are kept by most groups, but, although useful for their milk, they are mainly for prestige, as a store of value, and for bride-price payments. Villages consist of clustered mud and wattle huts, granaries, and common cattle kraals (pens) and typically accommodate one or more interrelated families. Personal and political relations are largely governed by a kinship system characterized by exogamous clans and localized patrilineages. Descent, succession, and inheritance, with the exception of a few groups in the north that are matrilineal, follow the male line. Chiefdoms, wards, and villages are administered by hereditary leaders. Shona traditional culture, now fast declining, was noted for its excellent ironwork, good pottery, and expert musicianship. There is belief in a creator-god, Mwari, and a concern to propitiate ancestral and other spirits to ensure good health, rain, and success in enterprise. Elementary education, Christian missions, and partial urbanization have weakened traditional institutions and leadership. However, magic and witchcraft continue as important means of social control and explanations for disasters. Th... Load Next Page
