The Pyramid Trailer

Moonshine made me blind to this pyramid scheme

"That is called a moonshine right?" Mani swirled strawberry scented liquid in his cup "Moonshine that can be drunk. It should not make us blind right?" he wondered between hiccups. "Back there, we really saw a pyramid right?" He started to get angry "What kind of a scheme is this, this whole mission thing?" He was rather sure that whole thing was doomed to fail. "Only way to make it happen if is someone says 'once upon a time', and makes it a fairy tale." His head started to spin, so he leaned it on Cindy sitting by his side. "Well, I would not mind me some magic." He just started to imagine getting magical powers and stuff when his contemplation got interrupted by Yax who stood up abruptly. "It's not a fairy tale! I did not sign up for no friggin fantasy! It's a proper science fiction! Sci-fi! With technology and stuff.." Yax burped and then just stood there distracted by dizziness. Cid pulled him down by his shoulder "Sit down, no need to get so excited.." he refilled his cup and enjoyed sweet aroma wafting up from it. Ivory huffed while trying to snatch another bottle from Jone who gently pushed him back while seriously stating "All technology at certain point starts resembling magic to those who do not understand it." "Hear, hear" Blaze confirmed from his spot on the ground with one hand waving up and showing a peace sign for some reason. Next to him, twins were out and snoring already. Mani pursed his lips and looked up into the sky. He could not see any moonshine, leaves blocked the sky, but it should still be up there somewhere. He stil hoped to get some magic, it would be awesome to get some real superpowers. He hiccuped again. Well, he kinda did have some already, or those do not count? Yax settled down and got another bottle of whatever was brewed in this batch. He had to admit some parts were rather mystical. Like this holy potion. Or Mani. Mani was most definitely something magical. But he is not going to say it. And no one can know what he thinks to himself. He grinned, satisfied by himself and his skill to keep secrets. Next to him, Cid rolled his eyes, there goes Yax, spilling the beans to whoever wants to listen his 'secret thoughts'. Not like anyone was sober enough to pay any attention. "Time to end this party." Cid said while standing up and dragging Yax towards the tent he shared with Ivory. "Tomorrow is another day where we have to rise up and do our best to save the world." Even though he knew that all they were saving is themselves. And their friends. Well, that is his whole world, really. The forest was silent, darkness was endless, beasts were hiding. With closed eyes and half asleep, Blaze was sure that he can hear gods above laughing, louder and louder from that abyss they call home. ...___... *Authors note* Greetings, I am Zewa, freshly OutOfTheBox. As, this is my first time trying to put a story out of my head and into writing. Due that, publishing is one chapter a day, and I occasionally revise published chapters to remove spelling mistakes and fix dialogue formatting. Learning is hard, but satisfying. Synopsis above is a scene from chapter 16, and is a bit of a spoiler intended to introduce tone of the story. It's supposed to be a light, fun read with gradual reveals of setting, characters and plot. I aim to create those "I totally did not see this coming" and "Oh I see where is this going" moments for you as a reader. I hope to make it, and I hope you like it. Let me know in the comments! ***

The Outcast: The Shadow of The Wall

"As the Supreme Commander of The Wall, my duty is clear: to hold back the threats from the south—mutant monsters, ogres, cyclops, or... hopefully not... the return of the orcs. The kings and lords of Middle Earth do not care. To them, we are just a bunch of 'Outcasts,' exiled criminals and soldiers pushed to the margins. That’s fine. It's better if they stay out of our way. Corrupt politicians rarely care about real security." He looks down at the Outcast barracks below, where the central headquarters commands the entire Wall, separating the south from the main continent. Wisps of smoke rise from the kitchens, carrying the scent of salty, stale soup. The Outcasts atone for their sins or suppress their grief through dangerous missions in exchange for a few gold coins, following the rigorous standards set long ago. Such is life at The Wall. "I, Oldman, am not a religious man. But I interpret the legacy of past eras as a reminder: The world has never truly been at peace. The evil forces of all ages—fragments, orcs, or dragons—will always lurk. Humans, dwarves, elves, whoever they may be, could end up killing each other, driven by cunning deceit. And now, the only barrier holding back the southern threat is The Wall... and us, the Outcasts. Perhaps history will remember us as nameless heroes, or perhaps it will forget us. But as long as I stand here, I will not allow the monsters from the south and other darknesses to spread across the continent again." "I am Oldman... In a world that has cast us out, we stand amidst the darkness. We have no land, no name, only this path. We are the shadows behind this wall. We are the forgotten guardians of the world. We are the Outcasts, and we will endure, or die on our path."
