The male lead is a savant-like genius who finds himself most imperiled by boredom. He is fascinated upon meeting the main character, intuitively sensing something is different about them. While he quickly becomes smitten, many obstacles arise and our main character often finds him troublesome and obnoxious. There is a mixture of scifi and fantasy as well as psychological and philosophical angles as both characters question themselves, each other and the nature of life in the universe. There's also action and suspense with unexpected plot twists.
