Unexpectedly Falling for You
Excerpt
"You can drop this stupid act now, Mr. Yates. I am not going to fall for it."
A frown marred his features.
"What are you talking about?"
"Oh, stop with your pretentious act, it makes me sick. You want nothing to do with a brainless socialite such as myself, so I am not even going to delude myself that this sham would work."
He remained silent for a few moments, then smiled.
"This works for me then. It means you are smart enough to not expect anything from me then. From what I am to understand, this marriage would be of great benefit to us both in that case."
Iris seethed internally. What an insufferable man.
"You flatter yourself too much, sir. My time is too precious for it to be wasted stroking your ego. If you came here just for that ridiculous charade of yours, I suggest you leave now."
His gaze hardened.
"I hope you don't forget what you just said to me. It has been duly noted, miss Clayton. I really do hope your words do not come back to bite you."
"I hope you say the same for yourself as well, Mr. Yates."
