Chapter 1: The Boy in the Barrel A calm sea. A single barrel floated under the blazing sun. The silence of the sea shattered when a pirate ship cut through the waves, its crew rowdy and wild. Inside the barrel? A boy with a straw hat, sound asleep. Elsewhere on the ship, Alvida, a cruel pirate captain with a giant iron mace, roared orders at her trembling crew. Among them was a small boy named Coby, forced into servitude. He dreamed of joining the Navy but was trapped under Alvida's thumb. Suddenly, the crew found the barrel. Curious, they opened it—and Monkey D. Luffy popped out with a cheerful grin. “I’m hungry!” Chaos followed. Luffy didn’t fear the pirates. In fact, when Alvida confronted him with her mace, he stood firm. “I’m gonna be King of the Pirates!” he shouted. Alvida struck—but her weapon bounced off. Luffy stretched and punched her away, shocking everyone. He had eaten the Gomu Gomu no Mi, a Devil Fruit that made his body rubber. Coby couldn’t believe it. Luffy wasn’t scared of anything—not even Alvida. When Luffy learned Coby wanted to join the Navy, he encouraged him to follow his dream. As the sun set, Luffy set sail with Coby. He looked to the horizon, pointing forward. “I need to find a crew. My journey’s just beginning!” And so, the boy in the barrel sailed toward Sure! Alexandre's life oscillates between entertainment and emptiness. He spends his high school years as a young man chasing parties and drinking. Most of his relationships are superficial, and his friendships are merely for having fun at night and escaping the real world. He constantly feels a void within himself and seeks to fill that emptiness in the excitement of every night. However, one morning, the world he knows suddenly changes. Alexandre opens his eyes in an unknown world after an explosion. Here, no one has fun, and everyone has a purpose to survive. At first, Alexandre struggles to adapt to the new world with a great sense of emptiness, realizing that the satisfaction he seeks is not here. He now lives in a reality that cannot be escaped with drinks or filled with parties. Yet, in this world, there is another struggle waiting for Alexandre: the pains and voids he must confront within himself. With each step, Alexandre's soul and thoughts deepen. He begins to question his life filled with emptiness. He starts to understand that entertainment is merely an escape, and drinking is just a momentary relief. Surviving in the new world requires a greater mental and spiritual battle. While facing his inner void, he also has to fight the shadows of his past. He realizes that his life filled with parties and drinks was an illusion, and his true struggle is with himself. Alexandre's story is a compelling narrative of a young man lost in emptiness, seeking meaning and undergoing a process of inner transformation. As he tries to leave behind the emptiness and escape of his past, and rebuild himself as a real human being, Alexandre will discover not only a physical world but also a psychological evolution.
