Rebirth: I Refuse to be Enslaved by Faith

Yuki had a rough childhood—her parents’ divorce left her feeling unloved and unwanted. Her father was distant, and her mother always loved her brother more, also comparing her to Haru, her cousin from her mother's side. Haru was always the star: smarter, better at everything, and never failing to make Yuki feel like second best. Her mother’s disappointment only added to the pain, and Yuki grew up with a burning desire to show everyone that she wasn’t just a shadow of Haru. She faced all of this, until she got into a car accident and died. Now, reborn with a new chance, Yuki is determined to make everyone who wronged her pay, starting with Haru. But something’s different about him. He’s still the same cocky, competitive Haru, but lately, he’s been acting strange. He’s suddenly trying to do nice things for her—over-the-top things that make her wonder if he’s being genuine or just playing games. It’s confusing, and Yuki’s not sure what to think. Haru: Nice job, Yuki. Dropping everything, huh? Just like your grades. Yuki (gritting her teeth): Can you not? Haru: Looks like you need help... again. Yuki (rolling her eyes): I’m fine, I don’t need you to play hero. Haru (teasing): I’m just being polite. Can’t help it if I’m a gentleman. Yuki: You seriously can’t leave me alone, can you? Haru (grinning): I was just making sure you don’t break anything. Can’t have you ruining MY books now. Yuki (Lips Twitching): You’re so selfish. Haru (shrugging): Am I?
