All of it flowed through the Grid. Reality itself was layered in data — signs floated in midair, people shimmered with digital overlays, and every step of life was enhanced, optimized, and controlled.
Until it was hijacked.
In an instant, the Grid was overwritten.

Modern weapons failed. Guns jammed. Satellites crashed. Drones fell from the sky. The Crucible disabled Earth’s arsenal, forcing humanity to fight by its new rules.
