Dual Eternity: Fractured Dawn

Fifty years ago, the gods issued a warning—the Underworld will be unbound in two centuries, unleashing an apocalyptic catastrophe upon both Earth and Elysium. To prepare, humanity was granted access to Elysium, a realm of magic, monsters, and ancient power. Through the Soulweave System, humans could grow stronger, their abilities transferring between worlds. But death in Elysium was absolute, and the struggle for survival was merciless. Now, with only 150 years remaining, Earth has fractured into a dystopia ruled by factions that control access to Elysium’s resources. The Nightspires lead brutal expeditions, the Dawnbuilders refine Aether to sustain Earth, and the Bridgers maintain a delicate balance between the two realms. Meanwhile, the rogue faction known as The Unbound seeks to force the apocalypse forward, wielding forbidden magic to accelerate the collapse of reality itself. Elias Varian, a chemist and alchemist, has spent his life studying Aether, bridging the logic of science with the chaos of magic. But when an experiment with Void energy mutates him, he loses the ability to return to Earth through sleep—physically stranded in Elysium with a body unraveling under an unknown affliction. Hunted by those who fear what he is becoming, Elias must navigate a world that no longer sees him as human. As the countdown to the Unbinding continues, forgotten truths resurface, ancient forces stir, and the gods remain silent. But something else is watching—waiting. When the Underworld breaks free, will humanity rise… or shatter? --- I am writing this novel purely for fun and a curiousity of wanting to try something new. Testament Of A Survivor

The world around me lay in ruins, a haunting reminder of what once was, my hand squelched in the thick, dark liquid that stained the cracked pavement—blood, pooling from the fallen, a testament to the chaos that had unfolded. Buildings, once towering symbols of human achievement, now stood as skeletal remains, their shattered windows resembling empty eyes staring into the abyss. The air was heavy with the stench of decay and despair, mingling with the acrid smoke that still curled from the remnants of pink fires still burning brightly . Strangely everywhere was silent, as i searched for a sign of life in this hellish landscape, searching for any sign of life or hope. Every shadow felt like a threat, and every sound made my heart race. In this world, weakness was the greatest sin. As I looked down at my chest only to see it peirced by a metal rod and my leg twisted as if ensuring i wouldn't try to walk, i was filled with so much pain that i couldn't think straight as my mind was filled with the death of my parents and the destruction that seems to echo around me. Only the remnants of my humanity and the pain that I was feeling that was judging my presence in this broken reality. I wanted to stay alive i truly did, but the weight of the image of my blood-soaked dead bodies of my parents lingered in my mind, a constant reminder of the fragility of life and the darkness that had consumed us all. Thinking back I thought 'what has led to this.' I recently received inspiration so I decided to integrate into the story rather than outrightly deleting it, so I am rewriting the story from the beginning, only a few things will change so bear with me, I will mention the end of my rewriting when am done

It wasn't my best work, but I loved writing the story. I put a lot more time and effort into Fractured Horizon, and ironed out the details over the course of a year before writing and publishing it here. If you liked My Undeath, this novel has almost ten times more planning put into it before release. ----------------------------------------------------- Schedule: 7-15 chapters per week Chapter Length 1,000-2,000 words Disclaimers: 1. The 'Earth' in this world is not as we know it to be. Applying common sense is pointless. 2. There are not any planned harems. 3. Increasing powers/strength in this novel will feel similar to cultivation, but this is not a cultivation novel. 4. These creatures aren't zombies as you know them and will not be called such by the characters, but that's all I will say here. -------------------------------------------- Themes: fantasy, science fiction, zombie-like mutated creatures, adventure, dark, horror, survival. -------------------------------------------- Inspiration: Resident Evil definitely inspired the world. Growing up, I played the Resident Evil games and watched the movies. All of The Walking Dead never entertained me because it was mostly drama and hardly any tension. 28 Days/Weeks later, Resident Evil, World War Z, Army of the Dead, Train to Busan, All of us are Dead, Z Nation, etc. are all cemented in my brain as thrilling pieces of zombie fiction. -------------------------------------------- Support the Author: Please use coins/stones/golden tickets, or review my novel!

The Fractured

Since I was born I've been a bit fragile. My bones are brittle with disease and my body constantly fighting itself. I missed many things in life and the world around me. I've never actually been in a classroom or had people other than family and it's been nine months since even they have visited. I missed championships and wars. I missed dances and celebrations. Sadly there was nothing I could do condemned to be in this hospital for all time. Calmly I studied the things I could never do like blacksmithing and combat strategies. Being male and this fragile is maddening but I'm sure it would be for anyone in my position. There is a new scientific discovery that's being unveiled today. I would have loved to be there and see it live but watching from the television is fine. I wonder what this quantum particle accelerator will bring with it. Maybe humanity will advance on this day and maybe before I die I might walk once on the beach. Watching this brilliant light show is amazing but slightly frightening at the moment it doesn't seem to be going the way it should. Havoc is ensuing within the testing site and people are rapidly being torn apart. It is horrifying but I can't look away as a black rift into the unknown best forth from seemingly nothing but thin air. The winds are swelling and the ground even here is shaking but I'm on the other side of the country. People are panicking in mass not knowing what to expect but then something willing violent bit happened as it looked like two worlds were merged in the blink of an explosion. The world has changed as what scientists would later call dimensional convergence. A message was heard in the heads of most humans that say as all manner of mythical creature appeared in mass! Our world had tripled in size and the message simply said “We don't know how we came but we are here to stay, let us have peace!” or so that's what I was told. What I heard though was “Time has not been kind so I will turn your greatest weakness into the ultimate power!” this is where is all began...and where the world started to end!

FRACTURED SOUL

Fractured Soul --- I was just five years old when they took me—stolen from everything I knew and thrown into a nightmare I couldn’t escape. For years, I was locked away in The Underground, where survival meant enduring horrors no child should ever face. But I survived. I didn’t break. And then, finally, I was rescued. Now, I’m thrown into the world above—a world I don’t understand. I’ve known magic exists, I’ve seen monsters, and I’ve fought them everyday of my life. Physically and mentally. But the Fae? That’s a whole different thing. I never knew about them, and now they’re everywhere and I'm one of them? They have their own rules, their own powers, and suddenly, I’m stuck in the middle of it all, trying to make sense of something I was never prepared for. I don’t know how to act around these people. They talk like they know things I don’t, and I feel out of place in this new world—like I don’t belong. And my naivety? Yeah, it’s there. I didn’t grow up with the world outside The Underground. I’ve spent my life surviving, not learning how to live. Everything is so different, and it’s terrifying. Every day, I’m bombarded with new information, new magic, new people—people with powers I don’t understand and a history I wasn’t taught. But there’s something else. Something deeper. I'm struggling with finding my place, and yet everything I do keeps pointing out that I might be the one in some resurfaced ancient prophecy. Now, I'm trying to avoid the rulers of the courts and their schemes–especially Eirlys, the King of the Winter Court. As I try to learn how to survive here, I’m also trying to figure out who I’m supposed to be in a world that seems to have its own agenda for me. The truth is, I’m not just scared of what I don’t understand—I’m scared of what I might become. There are people who fear me, others who want to use me, and a bloodline that could drag me back to the darkness I barely escaped. In Fractured Soul, I have to fight for my place in this new world. I’ll have to navigate my own ignorance, face the power inside me, and decide who I really am. But when the shadows of my past come calling, will I have the strength to stand, or will they pull me back into the dark? ---
