It began with the moon.
No one remembers exactly when it started inching closer. Only that it was subtle at first—a faint red tint across its surface that deepened with each passing year like a malevolent worm creeping in and carried a curse.
The tides grew restless, and the night air thickened with a strange, electric weight.
Animals became erratic and then humans began to change.
Fevers swept through towns, leaving bodies writhing beneath the moonlight. Some recovered. Some died. But when they woke up, those who had survived were no longer humans. Bones twisted and snapped beneath their skin as limbs reshaped. Eyes sharpened with a feral glint. Howls tore from their throats. While others rose cold and still—hearts no longer beating but senses sharpened—the scent of blood became impossible to resist.
Predators were awakened by the moon. Vampires and Werewolves.
To assert dominance frequent battles ensued. The fight to claim better territorial lands on the earth was inevitable.
Predators kill prey, and in their desperation, turn on each other. The rival clans of Bloodfang and Stormclaw would often wage wars with each other. In the center of the endless conflict, few surviving females were caught and met their inevitable end.
It was a slow death spiral that quickly turned gruesome and uncontained. And, with a hollow birth rate during wartime, the endless bloodshed inevitably pushed the human population to the brink of extinction.
With humanity teetering on the edge of collapse, the wolves and vampires were forced to face an uncomfortable truth: without humans, they too would die out.
Out of desperation, a fragile truce was forged. In the year 2174, a three-way pack where wolves, vampires, and humans would coexist.
The terms were simple: humans would be protected from unchecked slaughter, and in return, they would serve as the lifeblood needed to sustain both species.
It had been a hundred and eighty years since the alliance formed, marking the year 2324.
And now, Velvetiana was about to step into their world or rather, she was to step back into the world that had forgotten her.
