Uzu Hiko always considered himself ordinary—neither the smartest nor the fastest. But finding chess gave him a way to see life differently, a game of strategy and endless possibilities. Now in his second year of high school, Uzu is determined to climb even higher, surrounded by his best friends Tai Momo, Ono Lamia, Sen Kai, and Yuuki Alive.
What begins as an ordinary school day takes an extraordinary turn when a brilliant light engulfs their cafeteria during lunch. The five friends are pulled from their world into a mysterious land called Jambudweep. There, they are greeted by King Aryarama Dweep and his daughter, Rimu, who explain their sudden arrival. Summoned as “heroes,” Uzu and his friends are tasked with saving Jambudweep from the looming threat of demons.
Confused and scared, the group struggles to make sense of their new reality. While others panic, Uzu steps up, urging them to stay calm. But as the gravity of their mission becomes clear, one question lingers: Why were they chosen ?, and what role will each of them play in this battle between light and darkness?
