Après avoir reçu un message de Rin ASHIBA, la fille dont il est amoureux, Sora ISOSHI se rend dans une salle de classe de son lycée où Rin lui avait demandé de le rencontrer. Mais lorsqu'il arrive dans la salle de classe, il se retrouve seul. Pensant à une blague, il sort de la salle, mais une fois dehors, dans ce qui devrait être le couloir de son lycée, il voit à la place une grande pièce blanche où, assise sur un trône au fond de la pièce, se trouve Rin ASHIBA. Elle lui explique qu'il a été choisi par la Tour pour tenter de l'escalader et devenir son nouveau roi. Mais n'étant pas né dans ce monde, il n'a pas la capacité d'utiliser ce que tous les habitants de la planète sont capables d'utiliser, l'Ushi. Sora va donc se voir attribuer un étrange pouvoir.
