A Lull In The Sea Sayu

A Note in the Café

The aroma of freshly brewed coffee swirled through the small café. Mia, a talented but self-doubting columnist, finds solace in her favorite neighborhood café, where the comforting hum of coffee machines and quiet conversations inspire her best work. Across the room sits a reserved bookshop owner with a passion for literature and a knack for lingering in the background. Mia noticed him, how he had a quiet intensity about him that intrigued her. But she was too reserved to approach, so their interactions were limited to fleeting glances and unspoken words. One destined morning, a torn page from reserved bookshop owner's favorite novel flutters to Mia’s feet. Scrawled in the margins is a note that reads: “If we wait for the perfect moment, it may never come.” Assuming it’s an accidental drop, Mia returns the page, only to learn this man left it for her intentionally—a quiet declaration of interest from a man who has admired her from afar. What starts as a hesitant introduction blossoms into a connection neither of them expected. As Mia helped him rediscover his long-abandoned dream of becoming a writer, he teaches her to embrace spontaneity and trust her instincts. Together, they prove that love, like the best stories, often begins with a leap of faith and a touch of serendipity. Set against the warm and inviting backdrop of their favorite café, "A Note in the Café" is a heartwarming tale about finding courage, following your heart, and discovering that the perfect moment is the one you create together.

But that doesn't sit right with Kai Mizuhara, a normal teenager who seeks to become someone respected and find the true essence of life. Born in a very reputable family of a blacksmith, Kai has seen many Royal Families as his father directly serves for the military. He has seen how the poor live, how the rich live, how the nobles live and most importantly how ignorant God's of their world is towards people all around. He always wonders, everyone worships God's as they're the supreme being, the one who is always right and will be right but he always questions himself...Are the God's of their world truly how they potray themselves as? A world which is constantly getting in wars. That's the world he lives in, Kingdoms from all over the world trying to over power each other and prove themselves as the strongest, wanting God's recognition to ascend further rather than staying a lowly mortal. Yes, it is possible for a human to ascend to godhood. People in his world would do anything for power and God. That's something he has accepted long ago, commoners like him will get forgotten and ultimately be crushed by the higher ranks. Though the temporary peace which has taken over the world has changed many things, it's not a matter of how it will end but when will it end? Kai wants to do many things, but he simply doesn't have much time. That's a harsh reality a mortal like him has to face, he can die at any given time if that's what his fate is. The God's of their world have really created a system, the one who's weak will soon perish and the strongest will strive forward and ascend the ranks, finding eternal peace. It may sound confusing but a system like this allows some mortals with great strength and wisdom to ascend further and beyond. Will Meiying’s quest for vengeance tear them apart—or lead to salvation? ——— Suddenly, there was a knock at the door. My body stiffened as a palace guard called for me from the other side, but I ignored it. Mei, on the other hand, began pushing me away in a panic. "Cheng, let go," she said, struggling in my arms. "Can't you hear him? What if he comes in and sees us like this?" "I don't care," I replied, my lips brushing her ear. "Tell me you forgive me, that's all I need. I won't let go until you do." I knew I was taking a risk, a huge one, if we were seen like this, there would be consequences. But losing Mei would be the bigger risk, the one I couldn't take. I couldn't let her slip away. "I just need to hear you forgive me, mei. That's all I need right now." The guard knocked again, calling my name, and Mei struggled harder. "Cheng, please," she said, her voice cracking under the strain. But I didn't budge. Finally she muttered, "Fine. I forgive you." "I forgive you, you crazy jerk." "You really mean that?" I asked, my voice barely audible. She nodded, exasperated, and only then did I release her. Just as I did, the door swung open, and I barely had time to step back before the palace guard entered, the guard rushed in, his face pale with worry. It was a close call. too close, but I didn't care. Mei flinched at the intrusion, but quickly composed herself, stepping away from me to a more respectable distance. The guard, wide-eyed and clearly flustered, fell to his knees in a bow. "My deepest apologies, Your Highness. I called for you several times but received no reply. I entered out of concern, fearing the worst." I glanced at Mei, but she wouldn't meet my eyes. She simply gave the guard one last look and walked out, leaving the room without a word. I let out a long, exhausted sigh, running a hand through my hair, still reeling from everything that had just happened. Turning back to the guard, I motioned for him to stand. "Get up" "And next time, don't enter my room without permission." ———— Author’s Note (Rong King) This story is a work of fiction, entirely created from my imagination.
