After the Third World War had ended, peace has returned to the Kingdom of Fuji. But this is only an illusion, as discrimination, poverty, rebels and immense corruption plague the state. To finally bring back true peace, the Kaizen Academy was created; a military institution to train and bring forth elite soldiers that will hopefully lead the country into a better future. Kawakami Rei, one of the people who got accepted into the academy, now has to fight through the brutal training, carry the burden of an entire country and face his own personal trauma.

A team of four led by a man of prior knowledge, they don't know much about, have to save their city from a demon invasion. They go through challenges and turns that may be deemed difficult for others. The profound silence between them had become uncomfortable. Aiden felt he should rephrase the question, soften it somehow. For the first time since he'd met her, he felt he'd crossed a line. "Mr. Black," she finally said with a sigh, "when I do this, I realize that I want to live and be happy." Aiden turned his head slightly toward her. Something in his gaze had changed, and Tatum noticed. That's why she casually added: "As for the psychological exams," she chuckled, letting go of the railing, "be assured that I don't have that much cash lying around just to pass them all, only to protect your ass." The man's chuckle put her at ease. She didn't need anyone's pity.
