Me And My Monsters

Ascension Through Monsters

In a galaxy where beasts and their tamers hold the key to power, Aidan Lorne is just another cog in the vast, unfeeling machinery of the Darnath family's mining empire. Born into poverty and raised in the brutal mines of Vesta-7, Aidan has spent his sixteen years toiling under the weight of endless labor, dreaming of a life beyond the rust-colored dunes and oppressive machinery. When his family is lost to the cruel realities of the mines, Aidan’s resolve hardens. He will escape the hellish world that has claimed so much of his life, even if it means defying the powerful elite who see him as nothing more than a tool. But Vesta-7 holds secrets of its own, secrets that could change the course of Aidan’s life forever. Amid the dangers of the mines, whispers of legendary beast masters stir his ambition, and an unexpected encounter with a mysterious force sets him on a path that will challenge everything he’s ever known. With a unique system that grants him the ability to see the evolutionary paths of beasts, Aidan’s future is no longer defined by the shackles of his past. But as he navigates the treacherous world of beast taming, interplanetary politics, and deadly rivals, Aidan must confront the demons of his past, the price of power, and the true cost of freedom. In a galaxy where survival is a battle and power is earned, Aidan must decide what he’s willing to sacrifice to forge his own destiny. --- Author’s Note: This is my first time writing a novel, and I truly appreciate you taking the time to read it. I know it may take some time to fully develop, so I ask for your patience and understanding. Please give me at least 40 chapters to better establish the world, the characters, and the plot. I’m committed to improving with each chapter, and I hope you’ll join me on this journey of growth and storytelling. Your feedback and support mean the world to me. I will rate my English average only, so if you find any grammatical mistakes or any words hard to understand since I am trying to expand my vocabulary, please let me know so that I can improve myself.

Monsters Within: The Genesis

"Why don't skeletons fight each other?" She turned to look at him, her eye brows furrowed. "How does this have anything to do with the dire situation we are in?" She gripped her scythe, tightly. Fear still gripping her. He kept on talking as if he didn't hear her. "Because they don't have guts." Before bursting into one insane laughter that filled her with warmth. Fear slowly dissolving, she joined to. Few moments after the laughter died. "Your joke... It wasn't funny." His eyes widened, comically holding his chest in hurt. "Ouch!" Before flashing a hot crazy grin. "Well that wasn't the purpose in the first place though it wouldn't hurt if it was funny. Now you are much relaxed, don't you agree?" Funnily enough she was. They both stared down at the ruins. "Our inner monsters make excellent dance partners once you learn to lead." He started again this time his voice much solemn. "But what if it refuses?" She closed her eyes. Thinking about it was stressful. "Tame him with kindness or bribe it with chocolate it works with mine... Half me and half...

"Get your hands off me!" she wrestled against my grip, so I held her even tighter. "Put this on!" I groaned, toiling to keep her in place and wishing again I’d worn the damn gloves. The feel of her warm skin under my arm and palm wasn’t helping my focus. "I'm not taking you home like this!" "You don't tell me what to do!" she snapped, thrashing to break free of my hold as I fumbled with the cloak in my other hand, trying to drape it over her bare shoulders. "I'm not going home! Let me go, I said!" "Did you really think I got you out of there just to let you wander the streets, almost naked, like a lunatic?" That stopped her. "What did you call me?!" "LU-NA-TIC." "You... You…! Take your hands off me, you insolent brute!" Enraged, she yanked her arm too abruptly and lost her balance. I caught her, wrapped her in the cloak, and threw her over my shoulder. "PUT ME DOWN!" She shrieked and flailed, but I ignored her, making my way to the Commander’s house, which, thanks to Braa, was only two streets away. Since the entire population was in the square for the ridiculous festival, no one intervened at the frantic cries of the wild creature. No wonder in the ten years I've known the Commander, I've never heard that he has a daughter. She must’ve been kept locked away. Strangely, she suddenly went still and quiet. Had she grown tired, worried about attracting attention, or finally realized how inappropriate it was to show up at her parents' doorstep in this state? She didn’t seem to care before. With every step, my anxiety grew—she was limp. "Hey!" No answer. Seriously?! "Hey, you!" Nothing. A bad feeling crept over me, so I pulled her off my shoulder and into my arms. Her head fell against my chest—unconscious. "Hey! Hey, you!" I shook her, but she didn’t react. Panic surged through me. Had she fainted? Had I held her too tight? Lifting her more securely, I sprinted toward the Commander's house.
