The Golden Flower - The Child is Gone
Once upon a time, the entire world told of the fairy tale of princess Rapunzel and her beautiful long hair. Of her magical prince and her grief-stricken parents. Of the tall, hidden tower and the evil witch Gothel. Children in every country knew that Gothel kidnapped and tricked Rapunzel, harmed and despised her.
"Gothel was a greedy and cruel woman, kids, so beware."
--
But was she really?
When the story is told by Rapunzel and her family, can we trust that there was no bias to the well-known fable? How can we be sure Gothel was a one-sided villain, not perhaps a misunderstood victim, when we never heard the witch's intentions directly from her?
Those of true upstanding morality will listen to both sides of the tale, and to do so one must look no further than the things Gothel had left behind.
This is the diary of an infamous villain, where we start right from the beginning, long before our princess Rapunzel was born...
