The Lord's Maid
~She was a maid, a peasant of the lowest standing, yet, at first sight, she melted the icy walls the Lord had built around his heart.~

Michael Blackthorn, the lord of Velmont, had a reputation for being sardonic, unempathetic, mysterious, cold-hearted, and, of course, constantly snapping the bones of retards who irked him. But above all his villainous trait, his intense distaste towards ‘love’ was what stood out. To him, love was a foolish illusion of the heart and marriage, a prison of commitment.
But all it took was a glance at her to have his resolution crashing to nothingness….
She was a bundle of naivety, docile, innocent, and gentle, a stark contrast to those females desperately offering themselves to him like sacrificial lambs to climb up the hierarchy. Like a fleeting shadow, not only did she find her way into his mansion, but also into his heart.
Evie, after several tries of finding a job, to become independent, evading the tantrums of her scorned relatives, fortunately received a job offer from the lord's mansion. Residing in a land where peasants were treated as dirt, crushed beneath the feet of the elites, she had learned to avoid being in the limelight. But as cautious as she was, she would never have imagined having the eyes of the most feared man in velmont fall on her the moment she stepped into his manor.
