Mare: The mare does not refer to a female horse but to the mara demon who sits on a person’s chest and terrorizes them in their sleep. According to old Norse folklore, a Mara was an evil nocturnal demon of terror. The Night-hag or “riding witch” are other names for the Nightmare. Our story is about 4 Special Operations soldiers under the disbanded force MARE who decide to abandon their homeland of Chrome and defect to the neighboring country of Gasia with their former Captain and 5 other teams to protect the young princess from the hostile forces working in the shadows against her. However, even those who lurk in the shadows need sleep. And when they do, the true terrors of the night the Mares emerge.
