on April 21, 2141, the world was thrown into chaos. Creatures out of myth and legend appeared from the most isolated places on earth. leviathans that could easily crush cities with their sheer size came from the deep oceans, massive flying creatures flew from the mountain ranges, ancient super predators came from the forests, and unspeakable horrors came from the subterranean world. On top of this, a meteor shower destroyed most electronics and disabled the worldwide communications network. within 3 months, 60% of the 10 billion humans on earth had died. What remained retreated behind massive walls, hastily constructed and protected by unwilling soldiers. when the second catastrophe came, they were unprepared. Pets, livestock, and even houseplants mutated into horrible monstrosities, killing off a further 20% of humanity's poulation. then the tower appeared. it was the size of a two-story house and so tall you could not even see the top at the same time. An angel flew out of the tower, and within a week pushed the mutants, creatures, and monstrosities back. It created the haven cities, places where the mutants, creatures, and monstrosities dared not tread, before diapering back into the tower. A hundred years have passed since then. Now, humanity's young are trained to go into the tower from a young age in search of strength, resources, and power to regain the earth. But many questions remain unanswered. Where did the tower come from? why is it here? And most importantly, Why did it appear when humanity need help the most? Was it responsible for the catastrophes that killed 8 billion humans? Yea, I know this is a story trope that has been beaten to death, but taking old ideas and improving them is a good way to hone my writing skills. I want to get to the point where I can release 3 chapters a week consistently, but for now I aim to get out 2 chapters a week.
