Beasts Beneath the Ember Sky
David once lived as a man afraid of risk, trapped in the stagnation of his own cowardice. But death didn’t grant him peace—it placed him in a new body, stripped of its former memories, in a world teetering on the edge of survival. For three days, he has watched from the shadows, listening to soldiers speak of war, dwindling supplies, and an unseen leader whose commands send men to their deaths. The fort he lingers near is not a bastion of strength but a cage of desperation, held together by fear and blind faith.
Humans, he realizes, are no different from beasts—driven by hunger, survival, and the will to dominate. They follow leaders like a pack follows an alpha, and when that leader falls, they will tear each other apart to take their place. The soldiers march west, leaving only a handful behind. Their absence is an opportunity, and David has never been more willing to take a risk.
He does not know what the future holds, nor what kind of man he will become in this new life. But he does know one thing—whether man or beast, only the strongest survive.
