Years after Lysandre’s ultimate weapon was unleashed, its devastating blast radiated across the world, disrupting ecosystems, mutating Pokémon, and corrupting regions. Hoenn, with its delicate balance of land and sea, has been hit particularly hard. Toxic fallout poisoned much of the environment, and its legendary Pokémon have vanished, leaving the region vulnerable.
To maintain control in the chaos, the Hoenn League enforces the Crimson Code, which dictates that fainted Pokémon are euthanized as a matter of survival. Fainting is now a death sentence, and every battle has become a harrowing test of trust and endurance.
