Age of Daughters
Three thousand years ago, Chaos magic, once a source of power for men, turned on them, killing every male in the world of Aka. Mumbi, an immortal warrior blessed by the goddess, created the martriachal empire of Aka, ushering in the age of daughters that has lasted for thousands of years.
But no matter how prosperous, no age lasts.
A prophecy from the age of war foretells Aka’s doom, which Mumbi has dedicated her immortal life to stop it and her only hope lies in Amala, a lowborn girl born with the power of prophecy. Though promising, her ability is limited to seeing the deaths of those she touches. Together, the two search for the skull of Okalu, which is said will trigger the prophesied doom of Aka while fighting an ancient enemy as old as the age of daughters that want the doom to happen.
Meanwhile, sixteen-year-old Njoki is thrust into power after her mother’s mysterious death, becoming elder of the Anajiru clan, the most powerful of the nine clans of Aka. Young, naïve and inexperienced, she must navigate the harsh world of politics, find her mother’s killer while trying to be a worthy leader for her people. But as Njoki delves deeper, she uncovers Aka’s buried dark secrets, including Mumbi’s carefully guarded past.
As the prophesied doom nears, the three women, one immortal, one cursed and one untried, stand between the salvation and end of Aka.
