Before Clayton Nord shut the whole thing down the moment he first discovered it, an unknown number of global players had already gotten hold of the sample, Russia among them. Now all of them are working to find the cure to the Compound-Z, because anyone who has the cure will have huge power and influence over the world, using the cure as leverage. Now Russia is threatening to release Compound-Z into major population centers in the world as they are losing the war with Ukraine.
