Kegiatan Tengah Semester adalah kegiatan yang selalu ada di setiap sekolah, juga menjadi salah satu kegiatan rutin setiap tahunnya di Sekolah Menengah Atas Swasta yang bernaung di bawah yayasan Ibit. Bedanya, ada sebuah tradisi unik yang ada di sekolah itu mengenai kegiatan yang kali ini di tujukan kepada para siswa kelas sebelas kelas Sosial maupun kelas pengetahuan Alam. Sebuah tugas yang di kerjakan dalam kurun waktu yang tak sebentar, hal itu menjadi tantangan apalagi melihat kelakuan para siswa yang unik. Kelas sebelas IPS tiga juga melaksanakannya, hanya kali ini kisah berfokus pada kelompok tiga yang berisikan anak-anak dengan latar belakang dan minat yang jauh berbeda. Hal itu menjadi tantangan bagi seorang pemuda yang sering di sapa Yoni, seorang pemuda yang punya prinsip tegas didalam kelas yang rusak. Yoni juga harus bisa membantu temannya mengerjakan kerja kelompok ini bersama secara adil. Masalahnya, dalam kelompoknya ada tiga orang yang terjebak dalam kisah cinta segitiga yang terkenal tak bisa akur jika orang tiga itu berdekatan. Belum lagi, kegiatan OSIS yang berdekatan dengan jadwal Yoni untuk mengerjakan tugas itu bersama kelompoknya. Yoni tau, pemuda enam belas tahun itu tidak boleh menyerah. Dia harus bisa membuat kelompoknya yang berbeda itu lulus sidang dalam presentasi tugasnya nanti.

Ini bukan tentang Dilan yang mengejar cintanya dengan gombalan maut yang membuat Milea langsung jatuh hati padanya, ini juga bukan tentang kisah seorang laki-laki yang berjuang untuk mencari cintanya. Ini adalah kisah tentang seorang perempuan berparas cantik yang ingin mengejar cinta pertamanya. Semua usaha telah ia lakukan demi sorang pria yang ia dambakan. Cintanya bagaikan bunga teratai yang hidup di hamparan gurun. Walaupun tempatnya tak berpihak, tapi ia tetap memaksa untuk bertumbuh. Ini lah 'Teratai Gurun' kisah romansa dipadukan dengan komedi absurd dari pemeran-pemerannya. Semoga teratai bisa bertumbuh di hamparan gurun. Begitupun dengan cinta, terkadang tumbuh di kala waktu yang tak memihak.

Menurut anak IPA, anak IPS itu terlalu bodoh.Hanya bisa mengandalkan kenakalan, dan di cap jelek oleh beberapa guru.Berbeda dengan anak IPA yang membanggakan prestasi"yang diperoleh dari kejuaraan". Sedangkan menurut anak IPS, anak IPA terlalu sombong dan memamerkan kepintaran dalam bidang sains dan kebanyakan anak ips kutu buku
