Worlds Converge: An Apocalyptic Regression
Location: Earth 0001
Date: Spring of 2069
Time: 16:20
That is the exact date and time the world as we earthlings knew was over. Calamities. That is the name we have given the creatures who invaded our planet.
All manner of creatures we thought myth popped into existence on the surface of the planet from a crack in space. We termed it Rift.
This happened all over the world at the same time.
The world’s military tried in vain to kill the creatures but to no avail. They had an energy shield made of Energon, which is magic energy, to protect them. Their bodies were even infused with it.
Therefore, nuclear weapons couldn’t kill them either. This went on for days. A billion lives were lost in not even a week.
Until a crazy swordsman from Japan used a katana to slice a hellhound’s head off. Right afterward, he received a notification about exp.
This then set off a frenzy of people getting whatever sharp or blunt object and started killing Calamities.
That’s when a leader of the Calamities announced that our world would soon be overrun with monsters even bigger and stronger than the fodder we had killed.
And to be safe from the new wave, we can go to another world with other races as well as other humans.
Everyone jumped at the thought of going to this new world. Mainly due to fear of these next creatures’ strength.
This new world is called Olympus.
However, it was anything but that.
Wars were fought between the races for thousands of years; we were too distracted with fighting to realize the threat looming ahead of us. All of our deaths were just food for the Demon God.
Fast forward 799 years and 364 days, this world was also overrun.
I am the last survivor.
Well, the next generation are but they’re as good as dead because they’re too weak.
With our last battle gone up in flames, and all of the heavy hitters dead, the next generation had no one to blame but me since they believe I abandoned my mission.
As though a lone sword king could change the outcome of the battle.
Once back, I told them I’m the only one. This enraged them. Execution was the only justice I could receive after the loss of their parents.
I could’ve killed them all but, the last sliver of humanity left in me refused and I died.
Unexpectedly, I woke up in bed next to my wife three months before the invasion. Not particularly shocked, I concluded this must be the cliché scenario in the novels I used to read millennia ago.
Whatever god or gods that were left, perhaps even the universe, took pity on me and decided to send me back.
But, I don’t care. I’ve regressed. This time I won’t die.
I’ll cleanse Olympus of the scourge.
I’ll kill those damned demon lords.
I’ll reach godhood and decimate that pointy-haired, androgynous demon god bastard.
This is the regression of I, Seraph, The Bitter.
