Desired Realities

The Mafia's Desired Dreams.

Every dreamy girl wants a Mafia man, but the question is, does the Mafia man want you? Luna Defalco is a woman born into the Mafia life. Her father was in the Mafia, her cousins were in the Mafia, her mother died in the Mafia and now, even the man she loves is the almighty Mafia boss himself. There's just one minor hiccup, Zeno Silvestri, Luna's love interest, sees her as nothing more than a childish little sister. To make matters worse, he remains in love with his dead wife. When a threat on both their lives forces them to abscond to an island owned by Zeno, Luna must take this God-given chance to prove to Zeno that she is no longer that little child he's known all his life and make him fall for her womanly charms by all means. What happens when Zeno's brotherly feelings for Luna begin to shift? Can he accept this shift in affection or will he hold on to his dead lover? *** Excerpt “Zeno, what do you think love is?” Luna asked. Her sudden question made him turn from the grasses he was lazily plucking out of the moist earth, to stare at her. “Not what the dictionary tells us, but to you, what is love?" She wasn't joking, he could see it. Wiping the dirt off his palms, he sat himself next to her on the dried log of wood which she sat on. In and out he breathed like he was sincerely thinking about her question. Then without looking at her, his lips parted and he said, “A mirror.” "A mirror?" She asked. "Yes. A mirror.” He nodded and sighed. “Love is a mirror that reflects the deepest part of a person's soul. A mirror that reflects pain and suffering, but also joy and ecstasy, it's a mirror that reflects the heart just the way it is, naked and helpless. It's a mirror that reflects life, and that mirror is made of frail glass, hold it too tight, and it'll shatter, don't hold it tight enough, and it'll slip right out of your fingers and still shatter, if you try to pick up the broken pieces, you'll hurt yourself, that's why it's never easy to pick up the broken pieces, and neither can you just leave it there and get another mirror. Someone else might get hurt. Either way, love is hurtful." She had asked for his own take on love and he had given her the answer. Now she wanted to be bold. “Zeno, I no longer want to be that little baby girl that you adore.” His head turned as his eyes sought to look at her as though that would help him hear better. “Let me help you. I think if we pick up the broken pieces of the previous mirror together, it'll hurt less. And after we've cleared out the shattered pieces, then… then I want to be your new mirror.”

VAIN REALITY

Trapped in a room with locked doors and a closed window, it was just me and the bottle. Carefully, I read every inscription on it, and an instruction caught my attention. It said, “Active at low dosage.” I opened the bottle, and it's poisonous smell enveloped the room. I took a deep breath and emptied the content of the bottle into my mouth. I shook the bottle and allowed the last drop of the liquid to rest on my tongue. Then, I tossed the bottle away. I laid on the bed and closed my eyes, thinking I was never going to open them again. Just like I see in the movies. But no! It didn’t happen that way. It came with an unexplainable pain – a very awful experience where I felt like my organs were coming out of my mouth and my eyes were falling out of their sockets. There was so much blood pumping out of my nostrils as a hot tear rolled down my cheek. I held my stomach and screamed aloud to let out the excruciating pain that I felt. In my struggle for life, I fell off the bed and dragged my body, continuously trying to reach the door. Unfortunately, my bones were weakened, and I couldn’t help myself. I pounded vigorously on the door, but no one was coming to my aid. Then, I tried shouting again, but this time, I couldn’t find my voice. That was when I realized I had just made the biggest mistake of my life. Oh, my cellphone! I could call someone for help. Wanting to drag my body to the direction of my cell phone, I realized I wouldn’t be able to do that since I couldn’t lift myself off the ground. I wept bitterly, reminiscing about all the events that brought me to this point. I remembered how I constantly uploaded on my socials about how depressed I was, but no one ever understood what I was facing. I knew that when I was gone, my image would trend on media platforms, and people would try to reach out to my family, wanting to show how much they care and support… but they never really cared when I needed it. No one came to my aid except for Mr. Depression and Miss Sadness, who stood by me all this while and encouraged me to end my ordeal by leaving this world. Caught out of my thoughts, I felt this thick darkness and a threatening presence in the room, which I couldn’t escape. I knew it was time. I got tired of struggling because I was weak. My system was shutting down gradually, and my brain couldn’t function as it should. Every sound became faint, and soon I couldn’t hear them anymore. At this point, I felt no pain. My eyes were open, but I couldn’t see anymore… The darkness just grew thicker…

Unwritten Desires

“Oww…” I winced, lifting my throbbing head before glancing around and as expected the lab was in chaos. There was glass shattered everywhere, sparks fleeing from one place to another and the acrid scent of burning chemicals filled the air. Flames licked at the countertops, but what made my stomach drop was the gas spilling from a ruptured pipe. Crap. No one needed to tell me. I already knew it was toxic. The faint greenish tinge to the air, the sharp sting in my nose. It was more than toxic….it was deadly. And spreading fast and I couldn’t help but wonder what would have caused such an explosion. I tried to push myself up, but pain shot through my ankle, forcing me back down. I bit back a scream. “Dammit!” I cursed. That’s when I saw him. Liam. He was standing near the exit, scanning the chaos with an unnerving calmness and it was obvious he hadn’t seen me yet. Why the hell did he always have to be everywhere? He was already annoying enough. Ugh. I held back an eye roll. I tried my best to get up again but it was completely useless. I had sprained my ankle and there was no one around to help me…except him of course. Even if I wanted to yell for help, I’m sure the students left would be running towards the exit by now. So I didn’t have a choice but to ask him for help…apparently my only other option was dying and I couldn’t afford that. “Liam!” I choked out, coughing against the gas as it seeped closer. His head snapped in my direction. His eyes locked on mine, and for a moment, I thought he’d help. Instead, his expression hardened. He turned toward the door, ready to leave. God. He really was an asshole. “Wait!” I shouted, my voice cracking. “Help me! Please!” He paused, barely glancing over his shoulder. “I’m sorry, do I know you?” His voice was cold, detached and heavy with sarcasm. I gritted my teeth. My head throbbed, and the gas was making my vision blur, but I forced the words out. “We have classes together. Or have you forgotten the girl who was paired up with you in chemistry today…and do you even need to know someone to help them out?” I snapped. His gaze lingered on me for another second before he turned to leave and then I knew I had no choice. “If you don’t help me, I’ll tell everyone your secret.” My words made him turn. His dark eyes narrowed as he strode closer, towering over me. I had been holding it in for too long. It was high time I let it out. “My secret?” His tone was mocking. “Your fall must’ve really messed with your head, four eyes. Now you think a bluff is going to make me help you?” “It’s not a bluff,” I snapped, coughing violently. “I know who you really are, Alex.” His entire body stiffened. “Care to repeat that?” His voice was low, dangerous. I sucked in a shaky breath, the gas burning my lungs. “I know this identity of yours is just a cover, Alex Bronson.” I drawled. “So if you know what’s good for you, stop questioning me like a fool and help me dammit.” ~~~~~~~~ Eleanor is a 23-year old woman who was involved in a car accident on her way to her interview. Can he navigate this new reality without altering the story, or will he have to step up to shoulder the responsibility he took upon himself? Discover the twists and turns in this fresh new Rom-com series Altered Reality. Note: Please endure the slow pace in the first couple of chapters, it gets interesting as the story unfold, trust me ;). Note: This story is heavily inspired by the anime Re:zero and the manhwa Webtoon character Na Kang Lim, both are awesome, give it a try if you haven't yet. You can call it a rip off version of them, if you please, LMAO. But hey, this story has it's own plot, objective, goal, characters, and ending, which i hope you will find enjoyable. And if you do, please support it to the least you can, thanks. Note: I am extremely sorry, because of my own stupidity i had to delete the previous book, and even got many chapters deleted, now i have to write those deleted chapters all over again T_T. But on the bright side, i could improve the quality of those deleted chapters 13-19.

ASHES OF DESIRE

This was supposed to be just a dance, but the way he held me said otherwise. His grip on my waist was firm, almost possessive, pulling me flush against his body.He spun me around effortlessly, my back now pressed against his solid chest. A deep chuckle rumbled from him, his breath warm against my neck."Are you trying to tempt me?" he asked, his voice thick with something dark and unspoken. I barely had time to process his words before I felt it-hard and pressing against me. My breath caught, heat spreading through me as realization struck."What?" I whispered, my voice barely audible. His hands slid down, gripping my hips as he pulled me even closer. "Because it's working," he murmured, his lips grazing my ear, sending a rush of electricity through me.
