Bloodborne Lanterns

Bloodborne: Andante of the Dead 9

* * * The Synopsis will be in the Glossary* * * * * * This is my first novel and I don’t expect it to be good since I’m just starting out and doing this as a practice test. So please read my story and critique it. I want to know what I did or am doing wrong and how to improve or what to learn from it. I am well aware that my story would never get close to a 9 since I’m new at this, but I’m at the very least aiming for a 7 or a 7.5 rating. I am more than willing to accept criticism, and I understand if I wrote something stupid, but please don’t give me an overly negative attitude about it. * * * – 「Authors Notes」 - I will do what I can to keep chapters around or over 1500 words per chapter. - Since I am new and have a job, I will do my best to hopefully complete at least one chapter within two or three weeks until I improve and can hopefully reduce that time. - As a new writer, I will definitely make a lot of mistakes, so I would definitely appreciate it if you could help point out if and when I make grammatical errors, contradictions, and retcon things. I will try to go back and fix my mistakes on my own, but I would appreciate it if you could spot me on them as well. - I plan on having a semi big cast of characters. I understand that multiple POVs can be annoying and ruin the story or pacing or both so I promise to do my best to focus solely on my big 3. - One thing I really liked about a popular anime I liked was how they included bits of information, such as abilities, unique equipment, enemies, locations, and other details about the world before and after the short commercial break so I plan on trying to have some short notes/information about the world at the bottom of some chapters. Though you can also find them in the bloodborne wiki or YouTube videos. * * * Thank you for choosing to read my novel, I hope it's something you look forward to reading * * *

Horrifying Tales of Haunted Places-(Moved to a New Link)

Horror stories written by Joseph Kohtz The Ghoulish Haunted Mansion: On Halloween, a group of kids decides to go inside an old abandoned mansion to see if it's haunted and end up getting scared out of their minds by all sorts of monsters and ghosts. While inside, the kids meet up with a talking cat and jack-o-lantern who try to protect them from the spirits and try to convince one of them to read a spell from a book to get rid of the ghosts. Return to The Ghoulish Haunted Mansion: On a field trip, Susan Piper takes her class to The Wellington Mansion and tells them how it was haunted before she got rid of the ghosts a decade ago on Halloween with her friends' help. She also told her class how to re-haunt the house and warned them not to do so. The next day, on Halloween, six of Susan's students enter the mansion, bring the ghosts and monsters back, and get scared out of their wits. Jack, the jack-o-lantern who knew their teacher, protects them with help from Alvin, the ghost puppy, and tries to convince Victoria to read the same spell Susan read when she was in the mansion to get rid of the ghosts. The Spooky Halloween Sleepover in The Haunted Woods: After a few of their friends go missing, a group of kids investigates The Dead Woods to find them. While there, they run into monsters and ghosts that pick them off. Since their friends are disappearing, they decide to have a sleepover in the haunted woods until they find their friends, but they soon all go missing after the hauntings get worse. Fear Itself: After being told a ghost story around the campfire, a group of kids who go to a camp gets scared to death while ghosts and monsters haunt the camp and forest. They get scared, but some think it's all a prank by one of the counselors at first, even when the campers and the counselors start to get picked off one by one. Even though things look bad, some campers still think it's a fraud, at least until things get worse. Because the longer they stay and ignore the ghosts' warnings, the worse the hauntings get. Then they become convinced and start to get scared out of their wits.

The general’s obsession

Title: The General’s Forbidden Obsession Overview: In the heart of a war-torn Japan, where power is held by ruthless generals and noble bloodlines teeter on the edge of ruin, one sheltered aristocratic son makes a single, devastating mistake—he steps beyond the walls of his family’s protection. Naïve, docile, and unaware of the world’s dangers, he longs for a taste of freedom, a single night beneath the city’s lantern-lit sky. But beauty like his is a curse, drawing hungry eyes and grasping hands. When a brothel lures him in with promises of wonder, he stumbles into the clutches of men who see him as nothing more than a delicate prize to be claimed. Watching from the shadows is the nation’s most feared general—cold, ruthless, and entirely captivated. At first, he only observes, drawn in by the boy’s ethereal beauty and oblivious innocence. But when another man dares to touch what he has silently claimed, his restraint shatters. With a single command, the general takes him. Not out of mercy, but out of possessive desire. He tells himself it’s only for a night, that he’ll let the boy go. But obsession, once ignited, is a fire that does not burn out. As the aristocratic son’s family desperately searches for him, the general refuses to release his new obsession. And the boy, so naive to the world’s cruelty, doesn’t yet understand—he has just been caged by the most dangerous man in the empire. Will love bloom from possession, or will he remain nothing more than a treasured captive?

Dreamwalker: Reign of the Heavenly Sovereign!

Japan – National News Broadcast The polished news anchor sat upright, her gaze sharp as she adjusted the stack of papers before her. The newsroom behind her hummed with quiet urgency, the weight of the moment settling over the broadcast. "Authorities are baffled by a sudden and unexplained surge in sleep-related deaths across Japan," she began, her voice steady yet tense. "More and more citizens are passing away in their sleep without any prior health concerns. Experts are working tirelessly to determine the cause, but no clear explanation has emerged. Authorities urge the public to remain vigilant and report any unusual symptoms before bedtime." A graphic appeared, displaying the spike in fatalities over the past month. Behind her, unsettling photographs flickered across the screen—blurred images of individuals found in their beds, their faces frozen in expressions of terror. The anchor’s tone shifted. "Health officials recommend citizens avoid excessive fatigue and maintain healthy sleep habits. More updates will follow as investigations continue." --- United States – Paranormal Podcast In a dimly lit podcast studio, the host leaned forward, his eyes wide with curiosity. Across from him, a rugged man in a worn flannel shirt, gripping a faded photograph in one hand and a beer can in the other, leaned back in his chair. "So, you're telling me you saw this creature firsthand?" the host asked, clearly intrigued. The man scoffed, shaking his head. "Damn right, I did. Ugly thing had wings bigger than my body—slow but sneaky. Thought it could steal my pigs again, but I was ready this time—camera in one hand, shotgun in the other." He slammed the table for emphasis, then shoved the blurry image toward the host. The photograph depicted a small, red-skinned humanoid figure with large, bat-like wings, its eyes glowing faintly in the darkness. "Spit, the thing didn’t know what hit it when I fired!" the man chuckled, his voice full of excitement. The host held up the picture to the live chat. "Alright, what do you think? Mothman? Demon? Or is our friend here just seeing things?" The chat exploded with theories—some skeptical, others eager for the investigation to continue. --- China – Liangyuan Street Market Surveillance footage from a bustling night market in China captured a chilling scene. A woman in a red qipao walked gracefully through the crowd, her figure striking in the soft glow of lanterns. Suddenly, she paused. Her body flickered—like a glitch in a video—before vanishing completely, as though she had never existed. The footage zoomed in, replaying in slow motion. In the final frame before she disappeared, her face distorted unnaturally, her eyes hollow and empty. The screen cut abruptly to black.

Worldwide Simulation Era

This was an era where everyone could experience various worlds through simulations. When everyone reached 16 years old, they would receive a Life Lantern, which would grant them two free simulations. During the free simulations, they had to break through the limits of humans in order to attain a bright future in reality. Otherwise, they would lose their Life Lanterns and they would slowly be corrupted by a black fog until they eventually died at a young age. Lin Qiye, who transmigrated to this era, failed his first simulation. During his second simulation, by chance, he acquired a permanent SSS-rank talent - the Deduction of Genesis. Lin Qiye’s first life: [When you were two, you had a sudden illness, causing you to have a deformed head and low IQ. When you were 15, your parents passed away. When you were 18, you died of an incurable disease.] Lin Qiye commanded, “The Deduction of Genesis, deduce for me a way to transcend this life.” [Congratulations for defying the heavens and successfully changing your fate. You acquired S rank in your evaluation. Your rewards are…] … His second life: [When you were 15, the spiritual aura on Earth rejuvenated. You did not awaken any talent while your childhood best friend achieved outstanding attainments with her awakened talent. When you were 16, you were killed by a stranger.] Lin Qiye summoned, “The Deduction of Genesis!” [You carefully made plans before the spiritual aura rejuvenated. Because of this, you defied the heavens and successfully changed your fate. You acquired S rank in your evaluation. Your rewards are…]

The Prince of Light

"When darkness surrounds you, and not even the faintest particle of light remains… when all have lost hope, and the future seems like a distant dream… in that moment, my seeker, you have only two choices: surrender or look within yourself until you find the light you need and become a lantern for the lost." In a world consumed by shadows, where hope is but a distant echo, an ordinary young man is swept by fate into an extraordinary realm. He is no warrior. He is no sage. He has no noble lineage, nor a hidden power. And yet, deep within him, there lies the only spark capable of challenging the eternal night. Noctharn, the King of the Night, has stolen the world’s light, plunging its people into misery and fear. The libraries have been burned to ashes, yet in the most remote corners of the land, forbidden books still whisper secrets. Technology has been stripped away, but the last androids silently guard the remnants of knowledge. Dragons and ancient birds have vanished, hiding in the folds of time. The sun has been banished, and only the Millennial Moon remains, an unwavering witness to the suffering of her children. But even in despair, there are those who resist. Those who remember that true light can never be destroyed—only hidden. Legends speak of a chosen one, a pure soul whose light will restore hope and bring dawn back to the Continent of Eternal Dawn. Yet true royalty is not inherited—it is earned. And before he can rise against the darkness, he must face trials of virtue, learn the meaning of sacrifice, and understand that power does not lie in strength, but in the heart. "If you stop thinking only of yourself and look beyond, you will find what truly matters." "Virtue must be tested in order to shine before evil. Only then can it be recognized—only then can it be feared." "Darkness may fade, but light… light never dies."

Bloodborne Paradox

The world did not end with a meteor or disease—it ended with evolution. One day, humanity was gifted. Some could tear open the sky, others could twist the fabric of existence itself. But instead of a golden age, these newfound abilities plunged the world into anarchy. Nations crumbled, cities fell, and civilization shattered under the weight of its own power. From the ruins, a new order emerged. The Global Administration took control, declaring that only the strong would rule. Those who refused to submit—the Outcasters—were driven into the husks of old cities, lawless wastelands filled with rebels, exiles, and monsters of their own making. And from this chaos, a new event was born: The Dominion. A brutal tournament held every four years, where only the strongest Gifted could compete. To win, one must fight their way through an Outcaster-infested city, battling both the damned and their own ruthless competitors. Victory grants not just glory, but a chance to challenge the reigning World Administrator for ultimate control. Kazuki Enshō, however, is no contender. In a world where others summon storms and bend time itself, Kazuki’s power is laughable—weak, insignificant, useless. Forced to scavenge and survive on cunning alone, he is nothing more than a ghost in the ruins, a nameless survivor. But Kazuki refuses to be forgotten. He refuses to let fate dictate his end. Because within him lies something darker, something far more dangerous than the gifts that shattered the world. And when it awakens… The apocalypse will learn fear. ---Author's first novel release 1-2 chapters daily (depends on the author's mood)
