Ominis Gaunt

The Zombie's Stepmom

Sophia Wang wakes up to find herself trapped in the pages of an apocalyptic novel, reincarnated as a pitiful side character doomed to a tragic end. Determined to escape her bleak fate, she sets off on a desperate journey to survive the chaos of the zombie-infested world. But luck is not on her side. Her path crosses with none other than the story’s villain—Mr. Z, the twisted genius responsible for the virus that plunged humanity into despair. Tall, gaunt, and radiating a chilling charisma, Mr. Z looms in the shadows like a predator savoring his prey. With his signature white lab coat, an unsettling smile, and glasses that gleam with unnerving intelligence, he seems to mock her every attempt at escape. "Run," his smirk seems to say. "Go ahead, keep running." And Sophiae’s face at that moment? Let’s just say it’s the kind of expression even she doesn’t want to remember. “Hello,” Z says one fateful evening, his tone dripping with faux politeness. “Care for a midnight snack? How about some brain-flavored ice cream? —Sincerely, Z.” As Sophia is dragged into Z’s nightmarish experiments, survival becomes more than just staying alive. It’s a battle of wits and wills against a man who is both a menace and an enigma—a game where losing means becoming just another statistic in his deadly research. Will Sophia outsmart the mad scientist and rewrite her destiny, or will she succumb to the role the story has written for her?

THE GIRL AND THE GHOST

THE GHOST KNEW his master was about to die, and he wasn’t exactly unhappy about it. He knew that sounded bad. You’d think, after all those years together, that even he might have felt a twinge of sadness about the whole situation. But it’s hard to feel sorry for someone when: a) you’re a ghost, and everyone knows ghosts don’t have hearts, and b) that someone made her living out of forcing you to make other people miserable. He stared at her now as she lay on the narrow bed, gray and gaunt in the light of the full moon, her breath rasping and shallow. Watching her teeter slowly toward the end was a bit like watching a grape slowly become a raisin: the years had sucked the life and vitality out of her until she was nothing but a wrinkled shell of her former self. “Well,” she wheezed, squinting at him. Well, he said. “One more for the road, eh?” she said, nodding to the full moon out the window. And she grimaced as she offered him the ring finger of her right hand, as she had done so many times before. The ghost nodded. It seemed frivolous, but after all, he still needed to eat, whether or not his master lay dying. As he bent his head over the wrinkled hand, his sharp little teeth pricking the skin worn and calloused from time and use, the witch let out a sharp breath. Her blood used to be rich and strong and so thick with her magic that the ghost could get himself drunk on it, if he wasn’t careful. Now all he tasted was the stale tang of age, the sour notesthat came with impending death, and a bitter aftertaste he couldn’t quite place. Regret, perhaps. It was the regret that was hardest to swallow. The ghost drank nothing more than he had to, finishing quickly and sealing the tiny pinpricks of his teeth on her skin with spit. It is done, he told her, the words familiar as a favorite song, the ritual as comforting as a warm blanket. And I am bound to you, until the end. The witch patted his horned head gently. Her touch surprised him —she had never been particularly affectionate. “Well,” she said, her voice nothing more than a sigh. “The end is now.” And she turned her head to the window, where the sun was just rising over the cusp of the world, and died.

A Song to Forget

"In the depths of winter, I found within me, an invincible summer." Chi Yun was the best student at an esteemed music school and once had a bright career ahead of her as a talented pianist. But she had to take a long break from her education due to an unfortunate tragedy. Now that five years have passed, she is at last going back to school. However, she quickly finds herself embroiled in a heated argument with Wang Zhanyan, a disturbed student with a twisted past and a propensity for disruption, as soon as she arrives. Excerpt... Chi Yun sized up Wang Zhanyan and teased, “My, my. How could Chef Lu ever fancy you with a weak body like yours? Have you seen the difference? Which chef does not have a strong body?” Was Chi Yun belittling his strength? Wang Zhanyan grew indignant. “You really shouldn’t think so little of me. I beat up Cheng Xin and the others. Have you forgotten?” Chi Yun thought about it and agreed. Although Wang Zhanyan appeared frail and gaunt, he did possess some modicum of skill. Wang Zhanyan thought Chi Yun did not believe him, so he lifted his shirt and grabbed Chi Yun's hand, running them down his abdomen. “Hah! Can you feel them? I’ve got six-pack abs; count them if you don’t believe me!” The sudden warmth and firmness under her touch sent a jolt down Chi Yun's spine. She tried to retract her hand, but Wang Zhanyan, incensed, refused to let go and insisted she felt his abs. Thankfully, there was no one around. Otherwise, Chi Yun felt she would probably have to find a hole to hide in. It was so mortifying she would not have had the face to greet anyone. “Wang Zhanyan, unhand me!” Chi Yun hissed through gritted teeth. ... Highschool romance x entertainment industry. THE HAUNTING OF HOLLOWBROOK ORPHANAGE

In the quiet town of Hollowbrook, nestled at the edge of a dense, ancient forest, stood an old, dilapidated building known as the Hollowbrook Orphanage. It was a place of mystery and whispers, shrouded in an eerie atmosphere that sent shivers down the spines of anyone who passed by. Rumors of hauntings and strange occurrences had plagued the orphanage for generations. Seven children, each with their own tragic pasts, found themselves under the care of the orphanage's enigmatic caretaker, Mrs. Wraithmore. She was a tall, gaunt woman with hollow eyes and a grim demeanor, rumored to possess a connection to the supernatural world. As the nights grew longer and colder, the children began to experience unsettling events. Whispering voices echoed through the hallways, and chilling drafts seemed to follow them, even in the warmest rooms. Every so often, the children would catch glimpses of shadowy figures out of the corner of their eyes, only to have them vanish when they turned to look. One by one, the children started having disturbing dreams that seemed to merge with reality. They saw glimpses of a ghostly figure wandering the halls, dressed in tattered clothing and crying out for help. Desperate to unravel the mystery, the children decided to investigate. With flashlights in hand, they ventured into the heart of the orphanage one fateful night. The air grew colder and the darkness thicker as they made their way through the labyrinthine corridors. The whispers grew louder, and the sound of footsteps echoed in the distance. Suddenly, the group stumbled upon a hidden door leading to a forgotten basement. Descending into the depths, they discovered a hidden chamber filled with dusty old books and arcane artifacts. Among the books, they found the diary of a former orphan who had vanished without a trace many years ago. The diary revealed that the orphanage had once been a place of dark rituals and forbidden experiments, conducted by a group of cultists who sought to tap into the power of the supernatural. As the children pieced together the chilling history, the ghostly figure they had seen appeared before them. It introduced itself as Amelia, the lost orphan who had become trapped in a liminal state between the living and the afterlife due to the sinister experiments performed on her. Amelia pleaded with the children to help her find closure so she could finally move on. The children, determined to free her from her torment, embarked on a mission to uncover the truth and put an end to the malevolent forces that had plagued the orphanage for generations. But as they delved deeper into the mysteries of the past, they found themselves pitted against not only the malevolent spirits but also Mrs. Wraithmore, who was revealed to be the leader of the long-forgotten cult. With the help of the diary's knowledge and their newfound camaraderie, the children confronted Mrs. Wraithmore and the restless spirits, forcing them to confront their own darkest fears. In a climactic battle between the forces of light and darkness, the children managed to break the curse that bound Amelia to the orphanage. The building trembled and shook as the spirits were banished, and the children escaped just as the orphanage collapsed into ruins. With the nightmare finally over, the seven children found themselves forever changed by their shared experiences. They had faced unimaginable horrors and emerged as a tightly-knit group of friends, bonded by their bravery and determination. The town of Hollowbrook was left with the remnants of a haunted past, a reminder of the darkness that had once consumed the orphanage, and the courage it took to overcome it.

Passing the Time: We'll Survive Today (OFFICIAL)

At the age of 4, a girl realizes that she possesses a unique power. As she puffs her cheeks to blow out the candles on her birthday cake, the world seems to spin around her; instead of joyful laughs and bright smiles, she sees gaunt faces around her with sunken eyes and torn clothing. They all turn toward her and break out in a menacing grin, revealing rows of crooked and rotting teeth. She opens her mouth to scream, but her voice fails her and she scrambles out of the house as fast as she can. She soon regrets it, as the roads and sidewalks are also occupied with the same horrifying zombies in her house. Although the bodies of her family still walk on this planet, she knows they are forever gone. Taking advantage of her small form, she flees to an empty alleyway; or so she thought. A low growl sounds from behind her. Suddenly, she's surrounded by those flesh-eating monsters! She sprints away from them as fast as she can, but ultimately gets trapped in a dead end. Only wanting to escape and survive from this nightmare, she focuses all her energy to teleport to another time period. Her surroundings waver once again and she shuts her eyes as she hears the zombies' footsteps approaching her. She opens her eyes groggily and they widen when she feels the silk covers encasing her in a warm coccoon and the same material draping around her bed. A woman dressed in maid's clothing knocks gently before slowly opening the door. "Princess Ezmera, you are awake." WHAT!? Though her energy would eventually recover, she would need to wait at least 20 years to regain enough power to go back to the future and hopefully set things right. However, she later meets a man who just might be worth staying for.
