Sunroot
Sunroot tells the story of a young man caught between the light of his father’s legacy and the darkness that has overtaken his former friends. Set in a vibrant and whimsical dark fantasy world brimming with extraordinary creatures and powerful forces, the story follows Orin, a boy born with a deep connection to nature, drawing strength from the sun and commanding the growth of plants.
At a young age, Orin was kidnapped by a sinister organization known as The Veil, a secretive force that abducts children with unique powers and molds them into weapons for its own mysterious purposes. Orin’s father, Lucian, a legendary hero revered for his heroism and power, has spent years searching for his son, liberating countless children from the clutches of The Veil. But the damage wrought by the organization runs deep—many of the children, once freed, have become corrupted by the horrors they endured. They now roam the world, causing chaos and destruction, without the control that The Veil had once forced upon them.
When Lucian finally reunites with Orin, it is clear that his son is no longer the innocent child he remembers. Orin, now a young man, has endured unimaginable trials and witnessed the fall of his friends into darkness. His heart aches not just for his own freedom, but for the redemption of those who have lost their way. Despite his kind and pacifistic nature, Orin takes it upon himself to stop his former comrades, torn between his duty to the world and his desire to save those who have become monsters.
As Orin’s journey unfolds, he struggles with the weight of the world on his shoulders. The powers he once thought of as gifts now feel like burdens. His ability to command the natural world is incredible, but it serves as a constant reminder of what he has lost.
