The story follows the adventures of our hero Kiama, a youth who, though quite weak in warrior skills, is nevertheless quite strong in the arcane arts, something that he doesn’t know about until he is “awakened” by an old woman. The Maarati and Anyaga communities ascertain through their seers that there is a community from the south that is destroying all other communities in their path. They decide to unite their forces to combat this common threat. Kiama is one of the few who will have an intimate but painful knowledge of the southern enemy early on. The two communities marshal their might both arcane and force of arms to counter their enemy.
