I DON'T WANNA FALL ASLEEP
Tarry Lyme stands on the edge of a rooftop, her heart heavy with despair. Convinced that ending her life will bring her freedom from the pain she can no longer bear, she prepares to let go. But before she can take the final step, a mysterious girl appears from the shadows, sitting silently on the rooftop.
The girl speaks softly, sharing her own struggles: abandoned since birth, battling cancer, and living without family or protection. Her words strike a chord in Tarry, who realizes she is not alone in her suffering.
When Tarry finally asks the girl’s name, she replies, “I don’t have one.” Yet, with a gentle smile, she takes Tarry’s hand and helps her down from the ledge. In that moment, a fragile bond is formed.
As they spend time together, Tarry names the girl “Byne,” inspired by the brightness of the stars. Together, they rediscover fleeting moments of happiness—running along the shore, feeling the wind, and marveling at the beauty of the waves.
But the truth emerges: Byne is not real. She is a manifestation of Tarry’s inner strength, a part of herself she thought was lost to the shadows of depression. Through Byne, Tarry learns that even in her darkest moments, hope and resilience still linger within her.
This is a story of self-discovery, healing, and the quiet strength that can arise when we choose life over despair.
