Echoes of the Backrooms: The Last Refuge Show
Eighteen-year-old Alex Hayes, obsessed with pop culture, is inexplicably transported to the Backrooms, an infinite labyrinth of distorted realities. Trapped and alone, he discovers he has been chosen by a mysterious System that allows him to livestream his experiences to an interdimensional audience, earning "excitement points" with every reaction. With his face pixelated and his existence tied to this "show," Alex must learn to survive by summoning resources and personnel, from ammunition and medical kits to SCP Foundation Guards and specialized MTF units.
What begins as a solitary struggle for survival transforms into the ambitious Echo Foundation: an organization forged by Alex to bring order to the chaos. From a fortified base on Level 0, the Foundation rescues lost civilians, recruits them as explorers, engineers, medics, and scientists, and equips them with anomalous technology. Its power grows exponentially with the construction of the Echo Citadel on Level 10, a self-sufficient metropolis with agriculture, livestock, and limitless energy.
But the Foundation's expansion does not go unnoticed. Hostile factions like the fanatical Echo Hunters and the technocratic Iron Order launch brutal assaults, forcing Alex and his army (including the elite MTF Epsilon-6 "Village Idiots" and MTF ARES-7 "Steel Firefighters") to defend their nascent empire in epic livestreamed battles. With each victory, the Foundation uncovers more secrets: artifacts called "keys" that manipulate reality, and the mystery of the "reincarnated," to whom Alex seems to belong.
Now, with Dr. Elias Scranton developing a "Reality Aegis" and Dr. Everett King creating stable portals between levels, the Echo Foundation seeks not only to survive but to control the very fabric of the Backrooms. Alex Hayes, the director of his own destiny, is about to rewrite the rules of this universe, one echo at a time, as his show becomes a legend of cosmic proportions.
