The Menagerie Anthology

This series is a collection of unrelated and different stories I have written. Although the series will include a wide range of genres and settings, here is a list of some stories included in this anthology: (Please note I am uploading these stories steadily, so if one is listed, but hasn’t been released yet please be patient. Also, I apologize for the over the top descriptions. I couldn’t help myself!) - Akeldama: On a distant planet with the heat of the suns hitting their backs, two men shall determine who will be victorious. Who do you place your bet on? The long ranged and experienced warrior or the strength empowered and feisty fighter? - He Who Stands Still: Becoming thirteen isn’t easy and explaining how terrible it is to a twelve year old isn’t a simple task either. She just doesn’t understand how this little boy cannot grasp the tragedy of aging. However, this girl is in for a surprise, as he may know more than she thinks, way more, actually. - He’s The Goal: Lorelei and Brum have been best friends since both of them could talk. Their relationship has been through thick and thin. At the beginning of the school year, Brum decided to branch out of his comfort zone and join the soccer team. Before he even realizes what is happening, his heart falls for the team captain, Reiner. Brum couldn’t be happier, however to Lorelei there’s just something not quite right about the charismatic captain. - I Didn’t Know Her: He was milling through his daily routine. So was she. The bus stop was the same, with it’s tarnished lettering and weathered bench. The sidewalk was the same, lined with crepe myrtle trees and littered with weeds cracking through the concrete. Even the honking horns of traffic jams and the nearby ring of a telephone was no different. However, he would die today, and so would she. The abnormality is not their deaths, but the interaction between two strangers who realized together their time was coming to an end.

Nature's Whisper

In a quaint rural village, young Theo, a spirited 5-year-old, finds solace in the simple joys of life on the farm. Surrounded by a menagerie of beloved animals in the community's centerpiece - a grand, weathered barn - Theo's world is filled with the soothing sounds of lowing cows, clucking chickens, and bleating sheep. This pastoral idyll provides a stark contrast to the darkness that has permeated his young life. Abandoned by his own family and left to fend for himself in the middle of a forest, Theo has endured unimaginable neglect and trauma. Scarred by his harrowing experiences, he has come to accept the harshness and difficulties of life as his unfortunate reality. Yet, even in the depths of his despair, a glimmer of hope begins to emerge. Driven by an innate curiosity and a yearning for a better future, Theo embarks on a profound journey of self-discovery. Through his interactions with the animals and the rhythms of the pastoral setting, he begins to explore his own inner landscape, questioning the assumptions he has held about the nature of his existence. As Theo delves deeper into this exploration, he may just find that the key to transforming his understanding of life lies in the very simplicity and connection he has discovered by his companions, the creatures. This resilient young boy's journey from darkness to light promises to be a poignant and ultimately uplifting exploration of the human spirit's capacity for healing and growth.

Winds of Zephyria: The Gusty Gem

The floating isles of Zephyria play host to a cast of characters as irreverent as the galeways they navigate. Behold: The Gusty Gem, a patchwork airship held together by an aged rigging and a mismatched quilt for a balloon. At the helm (or in his chair) is Captain Barnabus Boulderbeard, a skydwarf with more billowing brown hair than experience leading a crew (note: Barnabus only has red hair). His crew is a delightful menagerie of misfits who keep coming back for more: Amafrey, the effervescent adventurer with a spirit guide and narcissists for parents; Lireal, the celestiamancer whose command of celestial energy is used almost exclusively to torture the Captain; Larry, humanity's mistakes coalesced into one weepy 'wizard' who has a hiccup or three in his delivery--but not to worry--he'll always try to fix it himself, just in case you thought anything good was gonna' happen today. Finally, we have Slimmy: an enigmatic, feydust-fueled jester whose quips and quirks are never going to lead to a satisfactory character arc, but hey! If he won't listen to the author, he can just keep hallucinating his way through life! As they navigate the perils of Zephyria and each other, the crew must contend with challenges that range from the professional (deciphering Lireal's navigation jargon) to the meta (exorcising a possessed toy airship). Their misadventures are a testament to the power of friendship, quick wit, and my Vyvanse kicking in.
