Armando César, oriundo de la Ciudad de Buenos Aires, Argentina; historiador y un fanático de la curiosidad y el misterio, decide ante una intriga desmedida por la obra del Poeta Fernando Nogueira Pessoa partir a Lisboa, Portugal, ante los rumores de su figura fantasmal, y documentos sobre la existencia de un poema épico sobre los enigmas del universo. En aquella tierra tendrá la oportunidad de conocer a quien será su compañero de aventuras José Sarachago, redactor, fanático del Poeta en aquel asunto, y comunista, y con él, una amplia gama de personajes que se disputan entre la realidad y la ficción a fin de dar con ese objetivo que tanto los impulsa.
