Ray memang sudah curiga, karena belakangan ibunya sering dijemput oleh bosnya, yang ternyata adalah Ayah Emily. Ibunya juga semakin abai dan kehilangan kesabaran terhadap Chris. Sekarang Emily dan Ray terancam dimasukkan ke panti asuhan yang dikelola oleh negara, karena masih dibawah umur dan tidak memiliki orangtua. Pengacara perusahaan Emily mengatakan bahwa jika lebih dari setahun Benny dan Maya tidak ditemukan, maka mereka akan dinyatakan meninggal. Jadi Emily dan Ray memiliki waktu setahun, sebelum akhirnya mereka dimasukkan ke panti asuhan. Dan ya, mereka hanya butuh waktu setahun. Karena tahun depan mereka sudah berusia delapan belas tahun dan dianggap dewasa. Asalkan selama setahun itu Benny dan Maya tetap menghilang, atau kembali ke keluarganya dalam keadaan hidup, Emily dan Ray akan tetap tinggal di rumah mereka.
