Wings of the Frail
Neko entered the world as a fragile soul, his delicate frame and frail constitution making him an easy target for ridicule. From the moment he could walk, whispers and jeers followed him like shadows. But amidst the cruelty, there was one unwavering light—his sister, Nakemi. With her bunny-like features, soft ears twitching at every sound, she stood as his fierce protector, shielding him from the world’s harshness. While others saw weakness, Nakemi saw strength in her brother, a quiet resilience that others were too blind to notice.
The world itself was once ordinary, until the day an ancient god, seething with rage, unleashed a curse upon the land. The curse twisted reality, warping people into hybrids of myth and beast. Some grew wings, others sprouted tails, and a rare few were gifted with extraordinary powers. Chaos reigned as the mutated struggled to adapt, and monstrous creatures, born of the curse, roamed the land with a singular purpose: destruction.
In the midst of this turmoil, Emperor Shang-hi rose as a beacon of order. He summoned all those who had been granted powers, forming an elite team to protect the kingdom. With their combined strength, he erected a colossal resistance shield, a shimmering barrier that safeguarded the land from the horrors beyond. His son, Prince Han, was among the chosen—a natural leader with a commanding presence and a power that radiated like the sun. He was tasked with leading the team, though his heart harbored a secret he dared not reveal: a growing affection for Neko, the frail boy with angelic wings and a quiet determination.
Neko’s mutation had transformed him in ways no one could have predicted. From his back sprouted pristine white wings, soft as clouds and radiant with an otherworldly glow. A golden halo hovered above his head, and a third eye, mysterious and all-seeing, appeared on his forehead. Yet, despite these divine features, his body remained fragile, his strength limited. His sister, Nakemi, had become a nimble bunny-girl, her agility and speed unmatched, but her protective instincts toward Neko only grew stronger.
When Neko joined the power sect, he was thrust into a world of rigorous training. Swords, bows, and other weapons became his daily companions. To everyone’s surprise, Neko showed an aptitude for the bow, his aim precise and steady, and a modest skill with the sword. But his teammates were far from kind. They mocked his slender frame, taunted his weakness, and dismissed him as a liability. Only Prince Han saw beyond the surface, his admiration for Neko’s quiet perseverance deepening with each passing day.
As the team trained and prepared for the battles ahead, the threat of the cursed monsters loomed ever closer. These creatures, twisted and malevolent, sought only to destroy, their very existence a testament to the ancient god’s wrath. Neko, despite his physical limitations, carried a resolve that burned brighter than any flame. He would prove himself, not just to his teammates, but to the world—and perhaps, in doing so, he would uncover the true extent of the power hidden within his fragile form.
The stage was set for a tale of courage, love, and redemption, where the weakest would rise to become the strongest, and where the bonds of family and loyalty would be tested against the darkness of a cursed world.
