Through abandonment, rejection, and alienation, the creature turned into the monster that people treated him as. When Victor Frankenstein creates a human (his child) and abandons it, the creature just wants Frankenstein's love; however, Victor refuses that gesture. The creature then tries anything to get Victor to love him, showing how the creature is a lost child whose parent abandoned him, and how he hurts others so that his father can love him.
