Across the Huron Sea: Lust For Life

Seized by a panic such as she had never experienced in the 21 short years of her life, Mira scrambled against the man's grip, and a whiff of blood mingled with an intoxicating scent of cedar. “Shh,” he murmured, lowering his head. Pressed against his firm chest, she gulped at the dark red seeping through his shirt ivory white. She risked a glimpse up. Under a silver-black phantom half mask was a sculpted face, strands of jet-black hair sweeping his cheeks. Contrasting his pale complexion were those burgundy red lips, above which, a straight nose cast a shadow on his thin eyes the color of onyx. He glanced down at her, his gaze otherworldly. “If you’re thinking of getting on the back of the truck,” he wheezed, his larynx heaving. “Bad idea.” Deep like the rumbling sea and magnetic, his gravelly voice threatened to drown any audience. ----- History repeats itself. In a world ten thousand years after ours perishes, the planet is ruled by the First World, consisting of the Commonwealth and the Republic across the Huron Sea. 21-year-old Mira de Armas must escape the Commonwealth after a posse of vigilantes who called themselves the Reds started a revolution and persecuted her stepfather till his death. Disguised as a boy, she smuggles herself to the Republic. As she tries to escape from the Customs, she is caught by the most wanted man of the First World, the last drug lord who has taken out all the Republican cartels. The man offers to take her to safety in exchange for helping him to a bunker and treating his wound from the gunshot. Left with no choice, Mira joins forces with the man and learns that he is Dr. Warshon Qusbecq, a renowned physician by day. As their journey uncovers old memories and reveals the conspiracy behind the election of the First World Premier, their relationship evolves from suspicion to mutual dependence and affection. Through intellectual sparring and the exchange of personal stories, they reveal emotional vulnerabilities to each other that they hide from the rest of the world. Drawing on her own experiences in the Commonwealth, Mira sees the truth as she falls into the dark: that darkness exists exactly because the light is shining and enjoyed on the other side. I hope you'll enjoy this romantasy.

FiveFold Path Of The Godai

In a world fractured by elemental forces and the ambitions of a legendary warrior, the once-united nation has splintered into five isolated kingdoms—lightning, water, earth, wind, and fire. Each is guarded by a mythical dragon of immense power, entrusted with maintaining the delicate balance of the world. At the center of this legacy lies Rikuto Yoshida, a warrior whose forbidden mastery of the Fivefold of Godai—an unparalleled Xyra that commands all five elements—granted him immortality but came at a cost. His actions ensured peace at the price of unity, leaving behind a divided world rife with mistrust and rivalry. Generations later, Yukino, Rikuto's unknowing grandson, grows up as an outcast in the Lightning Nation, struggling against poverty and rejection. But when fate uncovers the truth of his lineage, Yukino is thrust into a journey of self-discovery, burdened with the task of unraveling his grandfather's legacy. Along the way, he encounters Suki Hotaru, a fiery and determined young woman from the Fire Nation with secrets of her own. As alliances are forged and tensions rise, Suki becomes an integral part of Yukino's quest, her strength and passion igniting a bond that will shape both their destinies. As the mysteries of the Fivefold resurface, so too do the ambitions of those seeking to claim its power. With the world teetering on the brink of chaos once more, Yukino and Suki must navigate a path fraught with peril, uncover the true meaning of strength, and decide whether to uphold Rikuto's vision or forge a new destiny.

Hougu Wars

Elevator Pitch: This is a story about what are Dragon Balls coming down into a society inhabited by humans and demons (Fairies, Youkai, etc.) and various groups clashing over them to vie for power and influence. On top of being a wish-granting device collectively, what if these “Dragon Balls” are distinct magical artifacts, each with serious power that could tip the scales balance, even in regional politics? Follow the story of several protagonists dealing with different sides of a Hougu War to come! Synopsis: In a post pole shift world, divinely-powered artifacts known as “Hougu” had been traversing dimensions, appearing in the material world and enticing many to seek them for making tall fortunes, attaining great powers, building fame, and so on. As Kamui STAR had been ravaged with seeming civil wars—dubbed Hougu Wars—cyclically occurring every few decades, all in pursuit of these magical treasures by all sorts of groups, certain characters grapple with their presence, one of them coming across a sentient sword claiming to be a Sacred Hougu. The Wars would soon begin and they’d find themselves unable to keep their distance, choosing sides for better or worse. This is a TTRPG turned novel featuring 7 protagonists, with the 8th to come in Act 2, using the system of Tokyo NOVA. Characters will be shown interacting with the bizarre “megaplex” they call Kamui STAR, the capital megalopolis of a country boasting a mesh of various ethnic groups, but mostly Japanese and Russians. Instead of forming a party of their own, the protagonists would each take the side of a group in the upcoming Hougu Wars. ______________________ Note: Like most of my works, this is a slow-paced series that takes its sweet time setting things up. First seven chapters shift from one protagonist to another, and the chapters take place roughly chronologically. Protagonists: 1. Yuki: a young urchin who is a caretaker of children by day and an Onmyouji by night. 2. Exelica: an amnesiac woman from space sent on a secret mission. 3. Kagura–Hotaru: a high school girl who takes up a sword thinking someone had dropped it, only to learn she had picked up one of the Seven Hougu. 4. Lev: a cold assassin for hire masquerading as an arms shopkeeper. 5. Saya: a dorky spy of Tara Clan who happens to be an art student (despite never going to any art class). 6. Anastasia: a Hanyou hired as a hacker and hunter who struggles to find her place in the Western Ward, a place inhabited by mages and Ayakashi. 7. Hisaki: a craftsman obsessed with forging his own Hougu, joining with a powerful Ayakashi clan to further his aim. Schedule: 1 Chapter will be posted every Friday, roughly 3 PM (UTC+6). This is also posted on: AO3, ScribbleHub, Royal Road and Wattpad. Cover image is drawn by a friend known as monkoumon. It features Exelica.
