Kouyou Ozaki

Shiki ("Corpse Demon" or "Death Spirit") is a Japanese horror novel written by Fuyumi Ono. It was originally published in two parts by Shinchosha in 1998. The story takes place during a particularly hot summer in 1994, in a small quiet Japanese village called Sotoba. A series of mysterious deaths begin to spread in the village, at the same time when a strange family moves into the long-abandoned Kanemasa mansion on top of a hill. Megumi Shimizu, a young girl who wanted to leave the village and move to the city, pays them a visit never to return. She is later found lying in the forest and tragically dies. Doctor Toshio Ozaki, director of Sotoba's only hospital, initially suspects an epidemic; however, as investigations continue and the deaths begin to pile up, he learns—and becomes convinced—that they are the work of the "shiki", vampire-like creatures, plaguing the village. A young teenager named Natsuno Yuuki, who hates living in the village, begins to be pursued and becomes surrounded by death.

As Ozak gazed upon the twisted figures emerging from the shadows, he knew that the end was near. The demons had risen from the depths of the earth, and they were claiming the world as their own. And yet, despite the fear and uncertainty that gripped him, Ozak felt a sense of purpose. He had been chosen to fight for his life and the lives of those around him. And so, he began to prepare for the long and arduous battle ahead, knowing that the time left before the end was short.

Yuriko Mei, terlahir dengan fisik yang sempurna. Kecelakaan kecil terjadi hingga membut kakinya lumpuh saat masih berusia 4 tahun. Saat berumur 18 tahun Yuriko seperti dikurung disebuah rumah kecil dipusat kota oleh pamannya yang merebut semua harta warisan milik kedua orangtuanya yang sudah meninggal. Kaneki Ozaki, seorang mantan mafia datang dalam kehidupan Yuriko dan mengubah segalanya, senyuman Yuriko membawa perubahan pada Kaneki. Kedua orang memiliki perasaan satu sama lain, akan tetapi masalalu mereka tiba-tiba muncul dan mengubah segalanya, Kaneki ternyata orang yang sudah membunuh kedua orang tua Yuriko dimasalalu. Bagaimana dengan kisah cinta mereka? seorang wanita yang tidak mengetahui pria yang ia cintai adalah pembunuh kedua orang tuanya. Dimasadepan akankah Yuriko masih mencintainya saat mengetahui orang tuanya dibunuh oleh seorang pria yang ia cinta? atau dia justru membalaskan dendamnya?.
