The Last Stand: The Fool and the Regressor

The apocalypse is here, and it’s so overdone. Monsters? Check. Burning sky? Check. Random system that gives you powers but also wants your firstborn? Double check. In the middle of this mess are two guys who couldn’t be more mismatched if they tried: The Fool: A guy who’s spent his life perfecting the art of doing nothing. His resume includes “professional procrastinator”, “class clown”, “expert nap taker”, etc... Now he’s got to survive an apocalypse that didn’t even give him a heads-up. How rude. The Regressor: A guy who’s lived through the end of the world more times than he can count. Literally. Because he forgot. Now he’s just a brooding mess with a leather jacket and zero useful advice. When the fool realizes his classmate is a regressor, he’s like, “Great. I’m stuck with the guy who’s seen it all but remembers none of it. This’ll go well.” Yet, they will still group up and face trials that test their sanity more than their skills. But as the so-called End demands more blood and the regressor’s memories start to resurface, they realize the real apocalypse might be their inability to agree on where to hide. Fool: "Let’s hide in the basement!" Regressor: "Basements are death traps. We should go to the roof." Fool: "Roofs are for dramatic exits. I’m not dying for aesthetics!" Anyway, can a lazy dreamer and an amnesiac hero save the world? Probably not. But hey, at least they’ll have a good story to tell—if they survive. ________ __ Please note that this story is a work of fiction and a product of the author's imagination. It contains scenes of violence, death, and may not be suitable for all readers. It is intended for mature audiences only.

The Indolent Empress

In a world where systems and powers are the norm, 20-year-old Lila has always been content with her mundane life. She spends most of her days lounging in bed, binge-watching TV shows, and relying on her parents for everything. Her motto is simple: why exert effort when someone else will do it for you? One ordinary morning, as Lila was lazily scrolling through her phone, a mysterious system suddenly appeared before her. The system declared that it would grant her an extraordinary power—a strength so immense that she could effortlessly move mountains or shatter the fabric of reality itself. Before she could even process this information, the system vanished as abruptly as it appeared. Overnight, Lila became one of the most powerful beings in existence. However, despite this newfound ability to change the world with a mere thought, Lila's nature remained unchanged. She still preferred to spend her days lounging around and avoiding any form of responsibility. As news of her incredible abilities spread rapidly across the globe, people began to seek out Lila's help—be it from desperate governments trying to solve global crises or villains aiming to exploit her power for their own gain. Despite these external pressures and expectations placed upon her shoulders (or rather on top of the blanket she snuggled under), Lila continued to prioritize napping over saving humanity. Her lackadaisical attitude often led to comical misunderstandings and unexpected outcomes when she did decide to act—usually because someone had managed to rouse enough interest in something trivial like pizza delivery or video game updates. However, beneath this façade of indolence lies an intriguing complexity: while others might see only laziness in Lila's actions (or lack thereof), they miss out on a profound resilience born from years of being underestimated by everyone around her. As time passes and more challenges arise that require at least some level of engagement from our reluctant heroine (if only because they threatened access to Netflix), we begin witnessing subtle shifts within Lila herself—small moments where duty clashes with desire; where perhaps there’s more depth beneath those sleepy eyes than anyone initially suspected. Will this unlikely savior ever rise above being just "the lazy girl with superpowers," or will she continue down a path where doing nothing becomes its own kind of revolution? In "The Indolent Empress," explore how one person’s unyielding commitment to doing absolutely nothing can inadvertently reshape destiny itself—and maybe even discover what truly defines strength along the way.

My Cuteness Gets Me In Trouble

Say it with me: "We listen, and we don’t judge." Okay, so hear me out. I may have made a small mistake. But to be fair, how was I supposed to know that the cherry blossom tree I fell asleep under was home to the cutest squirrel ever to exist? Like, ever. A squirrel that just so happened to be the beloved pet of a powerful demon goddess from another world. I didn’t mean to grab it in my sleep and cuddle it to death. I swear! Its tail was just so fluffy! I think... I can’t be too sure since I was loopy on cough medicine. I had this really bad cold thanks to my idiot brother, who can’t seem to cover his fudging mouth. I’m getting off track, aren’t I? Sorry, sorry. Anyway, after the demon goddess sensed her pet’s life come to an untimely end, she teleported to its last location and found my sleeping self cuddling the dead thing. Remember, "We listen, and we don’t judge!" I can’t be the only sleep-cuddler here! So, in her rage and pain, the demoness kicked me into another tree—at least, I’m assuming that’s what happened, because when I woke up in agonizing pain, my head was stuck in said tree. As you can imagine, I died soon after. Bled out, the whole shebang. Long story short, the drop-dead gorgeous (hehe, see what I did there?) demoness—whom I may or may not have developed a major crush on—ended my life. Hey! Don’t judge. She gave me warm chestnuts. Golden chestnuts. That’s clearly love, right? Wait, where was I? Oh, right. My future wifey turned me into the cutest, most adorable squirrel ever! The upside—besides being able to nap on the demoness’s perfect chest? It’s the fact that, while I’m no longer a human girl, I could eventually evolve back into a human form. All I have to do is level up. If only people would stop trying to capture me and make me their pet! Back off! I know I'm cute, but I belong to my Wifey. You can't have this cute squirrel!"

I'm a Pastor, what the hell is an Acute Gastroenteritis Outbreak Spell?!

I found myself in a parallel universe, awakening as a male priest. Everything seemed perfect; after all, as a healer, specializing in aiding women should pose no issue, right? However, I couldn't help but wonder about some peculiar spells in my repertoire. Firstly, what in the world is the "Instantaneous Outbreak of Acute Gastroenteritis" spell? And don't even get me started on the "Osteoporosis" spell. What purpose could these serve in my healing endeavors? The confusion only deepened with spells like "Blood Burn," "Gradual Freeze," and "Mental Chaos." Can I still peacefully focus on healing women with such ominous abilities? Comparing my spells to those of other professions, I couldn't help but notice the stark contrast. Mages wield "Doomstorm" and "Ice Age," swordsmen boast "Sword Rain: Homecoming" and "Wind-Cutter Slash," while archers showcase "Arrow Rain: Shooting Stars" and "Storm Arrow." Yet, my ultimate spells are disturbingly named "Cancer Cell Proliferation," "T-Virus Infection," and "Rabies Outbreak." In the midst of it all, a certain character, some crying girl, laments, "Noooo, I just took a bath, who would have thought that I would become infected!" Meanwhile, a villain chillingly asks, "Do any of you know what it feels like to burst apart while spouting blood? No! You don't know!" Even a boss character confesses, "Dear family, who can understand? I just took a nap, and when I woke up, I suddenly found that I have no kidneys!"
