These cards determine power, status, and destiny. The strongest wield high-ranking cards—Aces, Kings, and Queens—while the weak are doomed to insignificance. But among them, the most feared are the Jokers, those who exist outside the system, capable of altering the very fabric of fate itself.
Noir Vale, the enigmatic boy with raven-black hair and ice-blue eyes, was born under the Ace of Spades, a card synonymous with ruin and misfortune. Every Ace of Spades before him has perished before reaching adulthood. His existence is a death sentence. But unlike his predecessors, Noir refuses to be bound by fate.
Accepted into the Grand Arcana Academy, where only the elite train to harness their Card Sigils, Noir quickly earns both admiration and fear. During his first trial, he unveils an ability unheard of—the power to erase or alter the abilities of others, a trait only associated with Jokers, the anomalies of the Arcana Codex. With the academy now watching his every move, and the world branding him as a threat, Noir has only one goal:
