The Runebound
Ah, hello. I should introduce myself first.
I’m Darius Ren, 17 years old. Not a genius, not strong, not a prodigy, not an underdog. Not dumb, either. Just… me.
A month before my 17th birthday, I awakened my Soul Sea. Exciting, right? I thought so too—until I realized something.
I learned three Runes: Fireball, Water Blade, and Telekinesis. Normally, Runes fade after a few uses, letting mages replace them. Mine? They never disappear.
That means I’m permanently stuck with these three.
Mages gain more Rune slots by absorbing beast cores, but even at M-Rank, the highest known level, I'd only have seventy-eight slots—all permanent.
I’m cooked.
What now? No clue. Maybe I should just surpass M-Rank.
Don’t overestimate yourself, idiot.
Hey, if I’m an idiot, so are you. Because, you know… you are me.
Yeah, an idiot who talks to himself.
Anyway, my goal is set—hunt beasts, absorb cores, and choose Runes wisely. No point in getting new Runes if I don’t have enough mana, so cultivation is key.
I also know how to wield a sword—Mom spars with me whenever she’s free.
So, I’m not completely hopeless.
Maybe.
