How it works is that if he gets someone to acknowledge him genuinely, then after they die, he gets all their abilities. And no, the people in this novel aren’t stupid, and it’s hard to get them to acknowledge you genuinely so it’s gonna be interesting to see the mental manipulations the MC’s gonna have to do to get acknowledgements, especially from those old monsters.
