Federick's voice was as always calm, clear, and cold.
He raised his head, gazing at Thales with a hollow look.
"Judge Brennan was one of the old ones; he was indeed on the list, and I planned to interrogate him. King Losang II acted on this," Federick shook his head, "but I assure you, beyond questioning him, I never ordered for his murder."
Thales frowned, his gaze skeptical.
"But as I'm aware, your father had longstanding disputes with him, going so far as to attack each other with words, and Brennan was precisely the man who convicted your father."
Narrowing his eyes, Thales said,
"Perhaps in your view, his death is also well-deserved?"
