My mind is cluttered, yet not as vacant as this palace.
This is the saying left by the Wise King Mindis III at the beginning of the sixth century of the End Era when he graced the Southern Shore Territory and stayed in Emerald City. Years after the king's death, out of respect (or flattery), the then "Parrot Duke" Federick Kevendill conveniently renamed the Kevendill Family's hereditary Emerald Palace to the Palace of Vacuity, to commemorate the late king forever.
And it was in the room where Thales was staying (supposedly) that the Wise King had once slept. From the balcony, one could take in the entire southern view of Emerald City, and even catch glimpses of Gonghai City in the distance. When the night came, and it was time to sleep, the whole palace felt ethereal and peaceful, accompanied by the distant, almost imperceptible sound of the waves, which truly put one's mind at ease.
Thales had been staying in the Palace of Vacuity for two days now.
