Yuanjiang City, five kilometers southeast.
Here lies a vast lake, fed by the waters of Hunan, Zi, Yuan, and Li Rivers. It's a part of the Dongting Lake system, known locally as South Dongting because it's situated further south.
This place exhibits typical wetland characteristics: when the water rises, it's all lake; when it recedes, sandbanks appear. The area is crisscrossed with numerous rivers and dotted with tiny islands, boasting hundreds of lake sandbanks and islands spread across a wide expanse.
It was dusk, the waning sun casting a slanted glow over the shimmering waves, causing the water surface to glow with golden streaks that startled a pair of wild ducks. As the ducks flapped their wings hurriedly, a large fish suddenly leapt up and swallowed them before they could fly away.
Splash!
The fish plunged back into the water, leaving it calm as if nothing had happened. An unknowing visitor would have thought this a beautifully scenic spot.
"Jin Jin, wait for me!"
