Kunlun Mountains had no Queen Mother of the West, nor did it have Jiang Ziya.
While it held a significant place in the legends of ancient novels, in the lineage of real Taoist sects, its influence was never strong. The harsh environment, sparse population, and poor economy made it unsuitable for establishing a sect and spreading Taoism.
Therefore, Taoism in Kunlun was comprised of smaller sects, with the Mixed Yuan Sect being the only one with some fame.
To discuss the Mixed Yuan Sect, one must first look at the Heavenly Heart Sect.
Originating in the Northern Song Dynasty, the sect's founder was Rao Dongtian. This sect emphasized talismans and was one of the three major thunder rites sects in the history of Taoism. By the time of the Yuan Dynasty, a disciple of the Heavenly Heart Sect named Lei Moan went out to propagate and establish a new sect, creating the "Mixed Yuan Liutian Ruyi Dafa," and thus the Mixed Yuan Sect was created.
