Cultivators' Code: "One must not recklessly harm others, take advantage of Spells to deceive, violate, or acquire wealth. If belonging to any Taoist sects, the sect shall first clear its ranks. If the sect protects the guilty, it too shall bear the guilt."
This was a general rule, with specific explanations included:
Knowing the guilty acts of an individual and still providing a hiding place, assets, aiding their escape, not cooperating with investigations, or even resisting violently—all these are deemed as protective actions.
The subject could be an individual or an entire sect.
How is this determined? It is based on identity and subjectivity.
For instance, if a Disciple committed an offense and fled back to the sect, and a close friend, being aware of this, assisted in his escape, and later when the matter came to light, only that friend would be guilty.
