Everybody knew what the Celestial Sect of Wonders' bell ceremony rules were.
Seven chimes from the Bell of Destiny represented respect for guests, and the number of chimes were determined by the guests' status – one chime for the lowest, and seven chimes for the highest.
Eight chimes represented an internal grand ceremony, and all disciples from the sect – both successive and foundational disciples – would gather.
Nine chimes represented an internal grand ceremony hosted by the Founder, Lin Feng.
Anything lower than nine chimes from the Bell of Destiny were meant for hosting guests and internal administrative matters, and anything above nine chimes usually meant the Celestial Sect of Wonders had something to announce to the entire world.
The final rite was eighty-one chimes, but the Celestial Sect of Wonders hoped never to use that.
The reason was because eighty-one chimes meant the sect leader had fallen.
