Wang Yun didn't stand out among the enormous number of characters of the novel Three Kingdoms. He was mainly known for the series of stratagems he came up with to kill Dong Zhuo, which was known as a beauty trap.
Wang Yun was the foster father of Diao Chan, one of the four most beautiful women in Chinese history. In earlier times in China, a beautiful woman was not only good-looking but also elegant and talented. Otherwise, she was just pretty.
Dong Zhuo controller the living quarters of the imperial concubines and was willing to give the best women to Lu Bu, but refused to give Diao Chan to him. In the end, Dong Zhuo soon lost everything. Lu Bu was powerful and would even kill his own father for rank, fame and fortune, but he eventually failed under Diao Chan's temptation.
Reading about this, Huang Xuan had thought that Diao Chan must be a very intelligent woman for whom men as powerful as Dong Zhuo and Lu Bu would risk everything.
Huang Xuan wasn't afraid of risks either.
"Where is Lord Wang Yun? Take me to him," asked Huang Xuan excitedly, shaking his shoulders.
"Please," Wu Xi said, bowing and folding hands in front.
Huang Xuan walked on, taking Wu Xi's politeness for granted. Wu Xi followed quietly and sullenly, with his head lowered.
The Wang Clan enjoyed high prestige in Shanxi Province. Generations of members had assumed substantial prefecture and county positions. Wang Yun had been an official since he had been 19. He had become the governor of Yu Prefecture in his prime of life. He had come from a wealthy family like Huang Xuan's, but unlike Huang Xuan, he was ambitious and capable. Having undergone ups and downs in his career, he had been appointed as Situ at a critical moment. However, the Han Dynasty had been full of problems. Wang Yun wouldn't be able to rejuvenate it by himself. But Wang Yun had made up his mind to exterminate Dong Zhuo.
Huang Xuan looked at Wang Yun's residence and didn't find the architecture in the Han Dynasty as remarkable as later generations have always praised. In his opinion, the gloss of the materials was not as good as marble; the texture was not as fine as white marble; the patterns were not original either. After all, it was the beauty Diao Chan that had attracted him here. Although he wasn't old enough to completely appreciate beautiful women, he did have hormones in his body.
"A moment please. My master is still busy with official documents."
Huang Xuan waved his hand in a careless manner. He hadn't come for him anyway. Seeing Wu Xi walk out of the hall, Huang Xuan got up and started to walk outward. He hated kneeling, especially when the mat made of fur felt thorny.
A maid stopped Huang Xuan immediately. "Please wait a minute. The master is coming soon. I will get you some tea," said she respectfully.
"You didn't even check, how can you be sure he is coming soon?" Huang Xuan didn't believe her at all. He had heard such remarks so many times in hotels and banks.
The maid hadn't heard such words before. To many guests of the Wang Clan, waiting for a meeting with Situ Wang in the hall was already an honor. She didn't know what to say. Huang Xuan pushed her aside and said to Rolin, "Do you know where Diao Chan is?" After spending so much time with Rolin, Huang Xuan had learnt how to disguise their communication when others were present.
"It will waste too much energy."
The answer was exactly what Huang Xuan had anticipated. He curled up the corner of his mouth and began wandering about in the yard. The maid kept watching Huang Xuan and didn't dare to leave while Huang Xuan was observing the courtyard.
Compared with Suzhou, there weren't so many beautiful gardens in Chang'an. The ornament was even not as good as the old residence of the Huang Family. The trees had been well planed but the bushes were neglected and didn't match the small pavilion.
Huang Xuan walked on. After a while, he heard the clamor of greetings. Wang Yun was equivalent to the prime minister of the Han Dynasty. Huang Xuan was curious about his home.
Wang Yun was from a decent family and was well-read in classics. He was tall and reserved, with a short beard and almond eyes. Huang Xuan recognized him at the first sight.
"Take care," Wang Yun said to a military officer, who seemed to be over two meters tall, of remarkable presence.
This was the main hall. The maid behind Huang Xuan grasped Huang Xuan's clothes and kept shaking her head. Several servants followed Wang Yun inside, carrying two loads of gifts, which Huang Xuan was curious about and hoped they were something he could take home. Huang Xuan took more steps but the maid was dragged down and knocked on a shelf aside. The noise startled the officer. He stood in front of Wang Yun to protect him and asked, "Who is it?"
Huang Xuan looked at the maid who was pale out of fear and smiled. Then he took her hand away from his arm, shrugged and walked out. "I was passing by. Did I interrupt you?"
Wang Yun became grim and asked the person behind him, "Which yard does he work in?"
Huang Xuan glanced at him in disdain and then walked closer to the officer. He raised his head and asked, laughing, "You are so tall. Who is taller, you or Yao Ming?"
The officer was confused. "Does he work for you?" he asked Wang Yun.
Seeing Wang Yun shake his head, the officer took one step, shouted, grabbed Huang Xuan's neck and was going to throw him out. Huang Xuan didn't need to react. Rolin had taken care of everything. The on-lookers saw that Huang Xuan lowered his head and then nothing happened.
Huang Xuan thought it was fun. He grabbed the officer's waist and shouted, "Up!", the officer was already lifted in the air. Then he turned, left foot front, leaning slightly backward and waved his arms with a shout, "Human cannon. Fire!" The officer was thrown into a corner of the garden five meters away like a celery.
"Feng Xian!" Wang Yun cried, face green.
"Who's Feng Xian?" Huang Xuan asked, eyes blinking.
"Lu Bu," Rolin answered.
