"I Have the Power to Control Zombies in an Apocalypse World"
(Chapter 1: The Beginning of the End)
---
The sky was painted red.
Cities had fallen, streets were littered with corpses, and the air reeked of death. It started three months ago—a virus spread across the world like wildfire, turning people into flesh-hungry monsters. Governments collapsed. Armies lost. Humanity stood on the brink of extinction.
And amidst the chaos, a 19-year-old boy named Rayan was hiding inside a broken-down internet café.
"System initializing…" a robotic voice echoed in his head.
Rayan gasped, holding his head. He had been starving, half-dead, ready to give up. But suddenly—something changed.
> [SYSTEM ONLINE]
Welcome, Host.
You have unlocked: NecroControl System.
Current Zombie Control Rank: F
Zombies Under Control: 0/5
Task: Kill 1 Zombie and Extract a Crystal (Reward: +1 Control Slot)
"What the hell is this?" Rayan muttered.
He peeked through the broken shutters. A lone F-rank zombie—slow and mindless—was staggering near the trash bin. His heart pounded. He had never fought before. But he had no choice.
Grabbing a broken iron rod, Rayan snuck up and smashed it into the zombie's skull. The creature shrieked, then collapsed.
> [Zombie Killed]
[Congratulations! You have received 1x Dull Crystal (F-Rank)]
[Would you like to absorb it?]
"Yes…" Rayan whispered, hesitantly.
As the crystal dissolved into his palm, warm energy surged through his body. He felt stronger—barely, but enough to notice. His muscles tingled, his mind became clearer.
> [Congratulations! Task Complete.]
Reward Unlocked: 1 Zombie Control Slot.
Would you like to control the nearby zombie corpse?
"Yes," he said again.
Suddenly, the dead body of the zombie twitched… then stood up.
> [Zombie Controlled: F-Rank | Loyalty: 100%]
Rayan stared in disbelief. "No way…"
He had a zombie now. One of them. Under his command.
---
But this was only the beginning.
Above F-rank zombies were E, D, and even terrifying S-rank zombies that could wipe out entire battalions. And humans? They could absorb zombie crystals to grow stronger too—but crystals were rare, and dangerous to get.
Yet Rayan had the system. And every time he completed a task, he could control more. Bigger. Stronger.
His destiny was no longer to survive.
It was to rule.
